I typically frequent the Bullard location, which I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff there. I recently moved, so this location is much closer to me. I wasn't going to say anything but what happened caused me to lose my appetite and I didn't eat my meal because I couldn't. I came with my son around 11 am. I ordered fruit, oats and toast along with coffee for myself. I was sitting bear the kitchen and could see where the servers put final touches on the plates before bringing them out. It was then that I saw a server put my fruit into a bowl by hand, she then gently palmed my fruit with her bare hand to ensure it stayed in place and shape it to the bowl and then plucked a peice of my fruit out with her finger and put it in her mouth. I saw it placed on a tray and then moments later my server picked it up. I immediately told him I didn't want the fruit, he was confused so I told him what I saw. He said he would replace my fruit and do it himself he did and he was very nice, so was another older lady that checked in making sure we had everything we needed even though they were quite busy. Despite that expression I will say the other two servers were very friendly and attentive. But I still had lost my desire to eat and just wondered what else could have happened to my other items that I didn't see. I ate my toast and all the strawberries and drank my coffee. Paid, tipped Juan 10 bucks coz it wasn't his fault. And I'm super bummed because this location is literally right down the street from me. But I think I'm done with restaurants altogether. I used to work back of house so I'm aware that it is possible for restaurant staff to mostly act with integrity but I can't risk it anymore and this incident...
Read moreTried the Huckleberry's on Champlain. I decided to try lunch versus the normal breakfast.
I ordered the Louisiana Catfish. There are 2 options available, Bayou or Creole style. I ordered creole style which comes with tomatoes and mushrooms over the fish. Wasn't quite sure how the fish was prepared. Almost tasted a little crunchy but nothing that really indicated it was fried other than the crunch. It was over a bed of jambalaya and came with a side of tartar sauce. Can't say that either had much flavor.
I ordered with a side of French fries and it came with garlic bread/Texas Toast that seemed to be cooked on a grill so came with a few extra grill remnants. The French fries had seasoning but very lightly cooked. They provided ketchup which helped.
The Cajun style is geared more towards bland taste buds versus those ready for a true cajun/creole experience. For the idea of trying Cajun food then I'd say there are other options out there but for those that don't look for a lot of flavor but say you had it, go for it. Nothing bad to say about Huckleberry's I'll just continue to try different menu items until I find the wow factor everyone...
Read moreFirst time customer. Amazing Amazing food. I had a skillet plate. Each and every ingredient I could tast separately and all at once. The place was full. But, The waiter asked, is the Jalapino and he rattled of two other things ok? Many other places I frequent ask these questions in case there customers do not like them. I said sure. He said they really make the plate taste great. So, as I lay my credit card on the table he brings my bill, he askes eould you like to see your hill, Im like in my mind, I trust you, Im aware of what I orded. I said no am good. He brings my ticket back for me to signe. I see I was charges just shy 3 dollars for said Items. As I was contemplating how I would like to hanlde it, a neighboring slightly older lady was making a comment to our waiter about the same issue. I find I am not an obnouxiouse type to make a fuss, I just dont frequent a place again if I have issues. So, I just reduced my four dollar tip to two dollars and will jot be back. My feeling is this is a ragular practice. So just be warned and be aware should you eat here. The food is impeccable...
