Maya Sushi — Restaurant in Fresno

I have been going to this sushi place since 2022! I absolutely loved it!! The previous owner would walk around the restaurant and mingle with customers and ask how their food is. He also rolled /made sushi next to his sushi chefs, too! Food was always on point. Service was always on point. They always went above and beyond every time. Until the restaurant changed ownership. Now, we don't even know who the owner is. There has been a huge turnover in chefs and waiters since then. The service is often slow. Most times, (even when it is not busy) we wait for 15 minutes before someone comes to take our order, which is very long for us because always get the same rolls every time. I sometimes have to get up and order at the register. Ever since we have been going here, the sushi chef Juan has been the one to make our rolls. It has always been on point. However, last weekend, we went, and he was not working that day. Everything we ordered was off, way off. Just bland and basic (or should I say, mediocre). From now on, I will be calling to make sure Juan is working before I go in. I don't know what I'd do if Juan ever leaves Maya Sushi!!! (Probably would have to find another sushi place to go) 🥲 Overall, 5 star for what Maya used to be. 4 star overall for what it is now. Without Juan, it would be a 1.5 to 2 star overall.

Parking was hassle-free, which is always a plus in Fresno. The restaurant's location is convenient, making it an ideal spot for both locals and visitors seeking a top-notch sushi experience.

Maya Sushi Lounge is a gem in Fresno's dining scene. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or trying it for the first time, this place will not disappoint. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm ambiance makes it a must-visit. I'm already looking forward to...

I am a regular here, but I’d like to say I’m going to be unbiased in this review. First of all, I love this place! When it comes to the exquisite art of sushi I have experienced dozens of different styles from locations varying from Vegas to Hawaii, and ALL through the Fresno area.

The sushi chefs (all of them) are seasoned and have years of experience. The quality of produce and fish is simply unparalleled here in Fresno, spare NO expense for top quality and freshness! With their new menu additions of ramen and chicken Katsu etc. I am never bored and can eat here every day if I wanted to and be quite content with their selection.

Most of all, I’m greeted with a smile, respect and still till this day even though I’m a regular I’m always treated with importance. I know all the staff by name and they are like family now. The Maya Sushi Lounge is my home away from home, when I want to have a bite to eat and be in a pleasant and inspiring environment that’s where I go to unwind and relax and enjoy. They are quite accommodating to any sushi roll requests and offer a custom roll option which is nice but I find their sushi chefs so amazingly talented I let them surprise me and am never disappointed!

If I could give 6 stars or 7... I would.
