Popolo's Pizza — Restaurant in Fresno

Well I came here with high expectations but left with NO DESIRE to EVER return. I drove 10 miles to get there. driving through the city, passing numerous pizza places along the way.

I ordered a Medium Thin Crust, Pepperoni, Black Olive and Fresh Mushroom with Extra Sauce ($20 without even the tip yet), well done. It took forever to get my order (40 minutes) and they weren't even busy. I thought of walking out two or three times, but I really wanted to try this pizza place. So I waited and waited. Normally I would of bolted. I gave the waitress the look, but she never looked my way or came to my table.

Well it finally came, and after the first bite, I was hugely disappointed and was kicking myself for waiting soooooooooo long. The pizza was JUST OKAY, for sure, nothing to drive out of your way to go and get. There is NO reason, to wait here long periods of time here, as there's TONS of restaurants in a 1 mile radius.

The dough was JUST OKAY, nothing special for sure. I was hoping for CRISPY, but what I got was a dried out thin crust. The Sauce, even though I asked for EXTRA Sauce was MISSING. The main reason why I even ENJOY pizza, it the crust and pizza sauce. The toppings were very SKIMPY, as they cut the meats and veggies so thin, they really disappear and get lost.

The salad bar I also wasn't impressed with either. I have seen some at grocery stores, looking way, way better than their presentation.

The staff is friendly and its a brand new building.

My Bottom line....Would I ever think of coming back here? Are you kidding me? No way!! Even if I was across the street I would go to another of the 1000 restaurants very close by. I feel paying top dollar for a Medium Pizza, ya better DELIVER Gourmet Pizza and not JUST...

I wish I can say different, however we went as a family to celebrate a championship game for my daughter and upon arrival they seemed hesitant to seat us.....they kept scrambling around us saying I can't do it so..I asked if there was a problem and they kept telling each other they can not accommodate... the restaurant was more less empty.....they said they only had 2 workers that we seen and a guy on the back they mentioned...that was supposedly the manager they said.....mind you while we were waiting people were walking in and they were sitting them down......with no reservations... I learned that from talking to another lady waiting behind us...they started becoming very rude to us treating us very wrong.....my family is Mexican American so we felt as if this affected us being able to be seated.......they did not seat us and told us they couldn't accommodate our family...we asked to speak to the manager after the girl became very rude....she told us to Google it and said he was aware of the situation and he will not come talk to us..... Horrible service and experience for our family hopefully the owner can talk to the manager about getting it together...i would really hate to think people are being treated this way because of race.i really hope people who have had a similar experience would speak up....I usually do not do reviews,however I felt the need to speak out about this very humiliating experience hopefully no one else will go through this here ever again.....Shame on you POPOLO'S!!!!!!if I could give 0...

It's been 2 years since I said I'd never come back again! How in the world are you still here 2 years later with this bad of service? Popolo's does nothing special on a good day. In a bad day, I call in an order-Do you still have calzone lunch special? Person has no idea and has to go ask-4 minutes later they do. Ok great all meat calzone please; hold the meatball. Response- So just Pep and cheese- Yep no problem great! If all meat is Pep and meatballs I guess that proves my point that they do nothing special right? 15-20 minutes she says. Get there 16 minutes later, they have no idea who I am. Then says they found it, five more minutes later. Charges me. Then says it'll be 20 minutes. WTH? No no no! Have you idiots not heard of this thing called a lunch break? It's already been 21 minutes and you want another 20? Because the cook is really busy? With 3 tables? I asked for a refund. 4 days for that. Which I doubt I'll ever see. This lunch choice cost me over $50 with the wasted time easily. 2 years later. I don't even care. Sad to see what was once a nice family place with really nice people devolve to this level. You guys need to close. Enough is enough. You're doing a disservice to the Old Man's memory at this point.
