Took a friend to lunch here using a gift card that I bought from Costco. Let me start with the good. The ambiance is very newish and clean, including the bathroom. I ordered the Piccata with a side salad. It was very tasty, and the portion size was very large. Our server was friendly and considerate. Now, the not so good. The server brought us bread, but there was no butter or vinegar & oil to go with it. We are not given appetizer plates, so, I guess we were supposed to put the bread on our napkin??? The bread was very salty. Our order took an exceptionally long time to arrive. When it finally arrived, my friend could not eat his Nonna's Calzone as it was extremely salty. Our server was kind enough to remove the item from our bill and only charged for the side salad that my friend ordered. When I received the bill, I noticed there was a price disparity of the cost of my Piccata. The menu I was provided said it was $21, but I was charged $27 which was the price listed up on the takeout menu board. I let the server know, and he was kind enough to remove the added charge. In the end, he thanked us for pointing out the problems so that they would be aware of them, and he gave us free cannolis for the trouble. I gave them one extra star than I would have otherwise for their efforts to make...
Read moreLove their food both at this location and when they had their food truck. They are a Fresno restaurant family and we have never been disappointed. The owner was cooking but came out to say hi and was great. The only negative is that they are expensive. You have to pay for good quality so that just means for my family we don't come here as often as we would like. They other negative is that they have Pepsi products not Coke. 😃 This time around we ordered Chicken Piccata, chicken parmigiana, spicy carbonate, meat tortellini and mozzarella sticks. Everything was awesome but here are some detais. Piccata was good but not very lemony (we squezzed some lemon over it to give it some more flavor). Spicy carbonara was perfect with chicken and bacon. Chicken parmigiana was excellent but the spaghetti that came with it was marinara, we would have preferred meat sauce. Meat tortellini also had the marinara but that worked just fine. The mozzarella sticks were excellent but $15 seems a little high priced. They do charge 3.99% extra for credit cards and their pricing was a little confusing at their POS system. All in all you will...
Read moreThe experience started off very well—welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff, and a friendly, positive vibe. My fiancé and I each ordered a glass of wine and were enjoying the setting when our server offered to top off our glasses, even though we were only halfway through. He mentioned he would charge us a “heavy pour,” which we assumed would be a reasonable upcharge.
However, when the bill arrived, we were surprised to see a $50 charge for the two heavy pours. Given that a single glass is listed at $12, the total for two glasses should have been $48, and the upcharge was not clearly explained. Moreover, a full bottle is priced at $40, and it would have been helpful—and more in line with practices at other upscale establishments—for the staff to offer that as an option instead.
While the ambiance and service were initially great, the lack of transparency around pricing left us disappointed. Clear communication about charges, especially when deviating from the menu, would go a long way in enhancing the...
