Wow! Wow! That's the only thing I can say...
I made reservations for Friday night about a month ago and was really excited about coming to this bar. The idea of speakeasy bar was really up my valley.
In Fresno, many bars are the same - provide mediocre drinks at mostly lower than "city-like" prices. If you want to go somewhere fancy, you need to make it a full meal with drinks at a nice restaurant.
The idea of this bar is different. First of all, it requires reservations. And it's quite difficult to get reservations for the weekend. Book in advance!
When you book on Yelp, you get specific instructions of what to do and what to bring. You must follow them precisely! You will also get a password that you will have to name before you enter the bar. It is very important that you bring a hardcover book with you. Not to read, but to contribute to the library.
The owner was absolutely amazing. He showed us around, explained the history and the meaning of the bar, and then led us to the bar itself, also known as Library. At the Library, two bartenders were preparing exquisite drinks for you from the menu or whatever you want. We also got a chance to sample their new drink without a name, currently. It was deliciously unique.
My first drink was 10 out of 10, Tower District. Moderately sweet, with enough alcohol to mimic a Long Island iced tea. My second drink was a bit too sweet for my liking, Rosemary Garden, and reminded me of Moscow Mule.
In addition to crafty drinks, you get a full experience of quiet atmosphere filled with old style features and stylish decor. Only a limited number of people are allowed, so you are pretty much guaranteed to have a peaceful conversation, unless of course you have a party of four girls who are laughing loudly. The majority of patrons are mature. In a good sense mature.
At the end of our second drink, the bartender brought us two desserts, complementary from the house, because that was our first time (or so I thought). Again, a really nice and pleasant surprise.
I am reserving my next...

So you have to have a reservation and use your credit card to hold your spot, but it is so worth it! Hush hush, mums the word, this is one of the most hidden bars you could ever imagine. Think old timey Speakeasy as it is hidden inside/upstairs of an entirely different sports bar!
Drinks are hand crafted by the most debonair of gentlemen I've ever come to experience at a pub, bar, or any other establishment. Truly one of a kind experience. Tons of entertaining stories between the hostess and the bartender(barkeep?), the hostess made me feel like more than family, like we knew each other since grade-school, Absolutely wonderful!
Drinks were exceptional, truly alone worth the price, trip, and experience above anything else I've ever been treated with.
They are pricey but absolutely exceptional as they are strong, delicious, and come with plenty of entertainment if you sit at the bar.
I've never felt such amazing chemistry from a bartender and hostess, it truly felt like a 1 on 1, perhaps even a 2 on 1(both kept me entertained all night) experience that I hope to someday experience again someday.
Look up their website to learn how to get in, how to get there, and to get a reservation. There is a locker in the Detention Sports Bar that you have to open and press a doorbell button inside it, in order to be let in. You will also have to provide the password which probably changes every now and then.
You must visit this place if you ever visit Fresno, California. If you drink cheap domestic beer, i.e. if you think Coors or Budweiser are the kings of beers, please steer clear. This is for people with true...
Read moreWent here for my birthday because I love vintage and a speakeasy was a cool idea. You are first walked to a "waiting area" where a guy gives you the history of a speakeasy. There was a lot of cool historical books on Fresno. He then said if we want drinks weed need to go to the bar which was a completely different room at the end of the hall, after which we got comfortable sitting on the sofas. The bathroom was terrible. No decor, very dirty and looks like they made no effort to renovate it from when it was originally built.
One of the bartenders was very nice, I think he was a co-owner and he was friendly. The second bartender was standoffish and rude. He started grabbing my presents and looking at them without my permission. The drinks were not good. I asked for something sweet and they did not deliver. The drinks were expensive and they promote them as handcrafted drinks that take time to make each one, yet the drinks were brought out immediately as if they were pre-made batches. No one in my party liked their drinks and we went elsewhere to enjoy the rest...
