First time visiting here. I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t busy. After a few minutes I was sat in a booth near a window. The table was extremely sticky but the server wiped it at my request. I checked out the menu beforehand and was looking forward to basic sushi. I don’t really do specialty rolls. I ordered miso soup, spicy tuna, vegetable rolls and a kids meal for my son ($36 minus tip). A few bites in, I noticed a bug in the window. I had to kill it. Bugs (particularly German roaches) gross me completely out. It’s almost unreal to be honest. With that, I lost my appetite. I didn’t get to finish the food. I likely will not return, but wanted to share my experience. On the way out I let my server know there was a dead bug I killed so that he wasn’t surprised.

Came in for the first time today. Brought the family in for Mothers Day dinner around 4pm. This place is dirty! The dishes that our food was served on were dirty. The cups our drinks came in were dirty. There were 8 tables/booths that have not been cleaned during the time we were here. Dirty dishes everywhere. If the dishes are dirty, how clean do you think the kitchen is? Ordered the Chirashi Sushi. Came with imitation crab? No thanks. We ordered Miso soup. It was not ready until after the rest of our meal. The pork was hot, but totally dried out. I heard good things about this place. There are some other good Sushi places nearby. Don't waste your time. They got my money once, but won't get it again.

After enjoying a sister day, my two sisters and I went to Masa Sushi for dinner. It was a little dark inside but it lent itself to a nice quiet ambiance to the restaurant. You have to try the sushi roll with honey drizzle! I'm the sister not afraid to eat, and I ordered that roll and a bento box. My sisters were second guessing themselves after seeing my dinner. We all really loved the honey roll and as all sister's do, they kept snagging some stuff from my Bento box. Over all the food, price and atmosphere was the perfect way to end the day that was needed after our long absence from each other. Thank you Masa Sushi for a wonderful dinning experience.

At first, I wasn't going to leave this review. I told the waiter my grievances in the most polite and constructive way possible. Then I got home and am now sick as a dog.

Guess where I am while typing this?

1st time dining here as I just moved to the area and this was our low key, celebration dinner. We were sat at a table that still had the previous guest's used chopsticks sitting there. The table was sticky to the touch. We ended up moving to another table. Still sticky. Told the waiter and he said that it was from the cleaner that they used. Maybe change cleaners then?

I ordered water with lots of lemons and asked for SweetnLow. Water came, no sweetnlow. Asked again. He finally brought it to me but nothing to stir it with. Ordered appetizers. Edemame and pork dumplings. No plates. When we requested the plates, he just brought a stack and set them down at the end of the table. Almost every one of them was visibly spotty and all of them had a chip in them in one spot or another.

Then I asked if anything had dairy as I am REALLY lactose intolerant. He made a recommendation of the orange dragon roll. I went with that and a spider roll.

Food arrives, pretty much one person at a time. Then I eat the spider roll and it tasted a bit "fishy" (pun intended). Well, you guessed it, now I have food poisoning. I'm currently the king on my throne and I paid almost $100 for the privilege.

I will not be back Masa Sushi. Your restaurant sucks. Your food sucks. Your service sucks.

Save your money people. There are easier ways to lose weight than violent vomiting and explosive diarrhea but if you need a crash diet, order the spider roll at Masa Sushi! I'm sure it will deliver that gaunt look of a prison camp victim with dysentery in no time!

I AM SO SICK!

I have so much work to do...

I've been going to Masa for years and I love the sushi! It's suprisingly easy to stick to a budget despite them having, well, sushi prices, if you know to try. The staff are always quick to help and check in often to see if they can help you with anything. They have really good deals on Tuesday evenings, to the point my parents go there for a date nearly every week. Wonderful, low key fancy atmosphere. Only complaint I could possibly have is they have a minimum 7 dollar per person policy, and my boyfriend doesn't like sushi. He only takes me there because he knows I like it, and ends up ordering chicken nuggets. It's nice they offer alternatives for those not in to fish, but the flavor was sub par considering every other item on their menu. I would recommend the Philidelphia hand roll, they warm up the salmon for this particular order and I personally find the flavors divine.

Update: I originally wrote this review 3 years ago, about 2018. I still visit relatively often and enjoy going, but I've had two particularly bad experiences in the last year, one of which involved food poisoning. It is not frequent, and I believe that was the only time it ever happened and has not happened since, but I had to remove a star at least temporarily on behalf of my poor mother with a sensitive stomach. I will return my review to 4 stars if I don't have anything similar occur for half a...

Ugh. I was so excited to have dinner here. Ive been dreaming of it, craving it. All my experiences in the past at masa have always been good, which is the only reason I gave 2 instead of 1 stars.

The food was absolutely abysmal. From taste, texture, and temperature. My sushi that came out after my dinner, was practically warm (its a cold roll), and my dinner was cold. The chicken was tough. My rice was overcooked and bland. My daughters steamed rice was undercooked. The veggies on the hibachi plate were disgusting. Im not picky. I tried to eat the food, but I just couldnt. My mom and daughter ate their chicken and some of the rice they almost broke a tooth on.

Service was okay. At times no where to be found, but for the most part we had what we needed. Also, what place doesn't serve wasabi and ginger with their rolls? Like what?

The sushi is better at HEB ten fold. Don't waste your money here. Until the owners or management can shapen this place back up.

Bathrooms were not the worst but gross enough. Clean the sinks.

The manager listened and was sympathetic enough. We weren't looking for any comps or anything, just wanted it to be known that our meal from start to finish was disgusting.

Im so sad as I sit here and eat bagel bites, because we spent money on food I couldnt...
