I have been here several times now, and I have had a great experience every time. This restaurant is a gift to us from Italy. The ingredients are literally imported from Italy, and it shows in the very high quality of the food.
From the moment you walk in the restaurant is warm and inviting. It’s a very cozy atmosphere. From the inside of the restaurant you quickly forget you’re nestled into a shopping center off Preston road.
This isn’t Olive Garden. This is authentic Italian food. I would describe it as “elegant in its simplicity”, and I mean that as high praise. Every single ingredient is treated with reverence. This leads to a final product bursting with flavor and complexity without superfluous ingredients.
I’ve had all three salads, and they’re all light and refreshing. I always have to get a pizza as an appetizer. Usually the bufalina (which is what you should get if you like margherita - the upgrade to the Buffalo mozzarella makes a huge difference). The pizzas are as thin as I’ve ever had in my life, and is a contender for best pizza I’ve ever had.
Of the entrees I’ve had: lasagna, bolognese, mushroom risotto, lobster ravioli, spinach ravioli, pesto gnocchi, and the steak (which was cooked perfectly). They are all delicious, but the lasagna is probably my favorite (so far). They also sporadically feature off-menu specials which are always worth ordering (including a fantastic off menu eggplant Parmesan the other day).
As a side note, I’ve tried the Arrabbiata as well and, while flavorful, it is one of the spiciest things I have ever eaten. It is for expert-level spice enthusiasts only.
The food is served in very reasonable portions, so a salad, pizza to share, and pasta dish is not an overwhelming amount of food. And the prices are fair for the portion size and quality of the food. Don’t split entrees is what I’m trying to say, everyone should get their own.
I’m a dessert fiend, and I’ve tried the tiramisu, cannoli, and another off menu dessert (some kind of pie/tart - it was delicious). You can’t go wrong here, but I’m such a huge tiramisu fan that I usually get that.
And on top of all of that, the service has been wonderful every time. The servers are more than happy to explain the menu and make recommendations. You can tell they believe in the food they are serving.
I’ll be back. You...
Read moreExpensive and so not worth it. Realize your neighborhood base of customers. Frisco suburbs = family friendly. Walked in on a Monday night and only one table was currently being served. More staff just standing around then anything. Host asked if we had a reservation, we did not, but no one was there. He hesitated and finally took us to a table. Took forever for someone to wait on us with all the staff just standing around. Median price for an entree was around $40 and they don't serve any kind of bread or anything with it. Asked for a kids menu...they didn't have one and said the best option was to get the cheapest $25 pasta plate. So, I ordered the $25 pasta plate with the sauce on the side for my 1yr old and 5 yr old. Asked about a side salad...server said the $20 salad was the smallest they had. Server finally took our order....then the table's food came out and he apologized that he messed up my order and didn't put my entree order in. I waited another 15-20 minutes while the table ate. Everyone was out of water and the server took the empty water carafe and never brought anything back. Someone brought the missing food, never saw the server again. Never got any refills on drinks nor did they ever ask if we wanted anything besides water. I even said something to the lady that picked up our plates about getting water or refills. And no response. I had to go stand at the bar/host area for 10 minutes, while most of the staff just walked right past me, to get my check and pay. Worst service, hospitality, and food EVER....save your money and go get better Italian food at Lombardi Cucina Italiana, or even Maggiano's has better Italian food for the same price. You are paying for expensive Italian food without the amazing "experience". The pricing was ridiculous for what you are getting (not getting). They must be importing everything from Italy. :) Learn your base of customers for the area that you put your restaurant in. (In a strip mall next to Planet Fitness, Aldi's, and a Dollar Tree). I'm not sure that's the best place to be charging around...
Read moreI was looking for another restaurant and ended up here. They were open late (10pm on a Monday) so I thought why not..it was about 8:30 Went to the bar with only one couple at the bar. The bartender brought me a drink and food menu. I ordered the margarita. She didnt ask me what kind of tequila I wanted but I assumed it would be the tequila on the drink menu. The bartender made the margarita with house tequila. When I asked what kind of tequila she used she said house so I showed her the drink menu which had Casa Migos. First she was like I dont think we have that. Mind you I'm looking at two different Casa migos bottles in front of me and I could see another bottle on the other side of the bar. Then she was like oh thats an old menu. Whatever.....she remade my drink. I ordered the penna pasta with tomato basil sauce. The sauce was decent but the pasta was eh. It was $19...lol it was about 3 to 4 tablespoons of pasta. Way overpriced for the amount of pasta. I take a bite and realize I needed pepper so I wait, and wait, and wait for her to look my way so I can ask for the fresh cracked pepper on the bar, but she was talking to the couple about her perfume. Finally I asked the door man for some pepper and he brings me the table salt and pepper. Ugh! For $19 can I please get the cracked peppercorns behind the bar?!!! Finally another women walks by and could see my frustration. She gives me some fresh cracked pepper. The bartender did not look my way until the couple left. At that point I was practically done with my dish. As far as pasta goes, Urban seafood in Plano is way better, service way better and prices way better. Will...
