After a long work week and a 12 plus hour shift yesterday, my husband offered to take me to dinner. We went to Pie Tap in Frisco as we have always enjoyed dining there and love their bar selections. My husband ordered the steak frites (flat iron steak and fries) and I ordered the honey glazed salmon. When my salmon arrived, it was completely raw in the middle. Gooey. I order salmon when we go out to eat frequently as I don’t eat beef, chicken or pork. This was raw. I couldn’t eat it. I was starving because I had a long shift at work (was still in scrubs) and hadn’t had time to eat much throughout the day. Once our food arrived, nobody came back to check how our food was. Our waitress disappeared. There were a lot of employees in the restaurant as well as the manager. We waited over 10 minutes for someone to come help us. I turned around a few times trying to make eye contact with one of their staff with no luck. Finally our waitress came back. My complaint isn’t about the waitress. She was very sweet and attentive when she was in the dining area. I asked if I could send it back and order the gnocchi instead. She said she would “take it off”. Pretty soon the manager came to our table and started to mansplain to me how their chef’s are trained to cook salmon. I told him that if it was sushi grade salmon, I would have eaten it. I wasn’t upset at all until he started mansplaining how their staff is trained to cook salmon. He said they would “take it off”. My husband finished his food before I got mine. It was about another 25 minutes before I got my gnocchi. The manager came back one other time and told me that he figured out what had happened. Someone outside had ordered medium rare salmon (insert visions of said man dragging his butt across their lawn from getting worms). So the manager admitted that it was their mistake. I still wasn’t upset. The waitress was extremely sweet about the whole ordeal. When we got the bill, there was no discount. They took the price of the salmon off, but I was charged full price for my meal and drink. They couldn’t even comp the cost of my wine. I just thought it was very poor management and frankly, we won’t be back. I plan on sharing this story with my work colleagues and get asked frequently for restaurant recommendations as I see and talk to a lot of people visiting, etc throughout my work day. I say all this not to be petty, but in hopes that someone will see this and get the management staff some training on customer service and business management. I wouldn’t treat any of my customers this way. If I made a mistake, I would try to make it up to them instead of mansplaining or asserting my authority. Feel free to check out my other google reviews. My favorite thing to do is take photos and lift up restaurants and businesses that have a it right.
Ps The manager could learn a few things from the waitress on how to speak...
Read moreHands-down the best restaurant of any kind in Frisco, and in my top 3 for all of DFW. Foodies will love the unique dishes at Pie Tap. Spectacular variety and quality of food. They are severely underrated and should be 5 stars across the board on Yelp and Google Maps. Excellent sourdough pizza and several mocktails. Great service - ask for Adrianna. The manager and all the servers clearly love working here and go above and beyond to be attentive and make sure your family has a five-star experience. Pleasantly surprised to find this isn’t just a regular pizza joint, it has hummus, pita bread, wagyu smashburgers, truffle parmesan fries, hot honey truffle chicken sandwiches, homemade doughnuts, fondue, meatballs, the list goes on. Can’t wait to try their amazing brunch options. So many mouth-watering options that I’ll be here at least once a week for the next year. Their happy hours are from 11am to 6pm — WOW! Signed up on their app and got $10 free food too. Pie Tap has set themselves apart from boring, run-of-the-mill chain restaurants with the same old boring menus and appetizers and entrees. Almost every dish at Pie Tap is unique with its own flair. The chefs have clearly thrown down the gauntlet when it comes to having the most unique, exciting variety of options for every palate. Salmon? Check. Pasta options? Check. Salads, cocktails, beer, wine, dessert, check, check, check, and yes, please! They’ll even hand-shave parmesan at your table and let your young kids play with raw pizza dough and teach them how to add flour and knead it themselves on a paper plate. How fun! Who does that?? Pie Tap, that’s who. Very family friendly place and welcoming of singles and party-goers too. Check out their menu and start planning date nights here. Can’t wait to go back, and if you look at my other reviews I can be quite critical. I can’t say enough good things about Pie Tap in Frisco. What a hidden gem. I hope they don’t become boring and stagnate as they grow and get more chain locations, because their current menu is phenomenal and is by far the most exciting restaurant I’ve seen...
Read moreAs good as the food was, the service was bad in every area. We went on a Friday night, having to wait for a table is not a problem. The problem was that after 1 of the 4 people at the hostess stand checked us in we went to the bar to grab a drink and somehow they forgot about us. I’m not sure how because I received a text message confirming that we were on the wait list. None the less after a lengthy wait to be seated we noticed that they were now seating people as soon they walked in. When we asked about our place in line, they didn’t even seem to know that we were waiting. The bar experience was no better, we asked for a red sangria only to be told that they don’t serve a red sangria. Then after ordering a different drink we see a red sangria being served to a table adjacent to the bar. Upon finally being seated, we asked the server about the availability of a sangria and she was surprised to hear that we were told they don’t make it. She did remedy the situation by getting the drink we wanted but we paid for a drink that we did not want and did not drink.
Then comes the dinner, we order a pizza and chicken parm with a salad as an appetizer. The pizza came out first, then the salad and lastly the chicken parm. While the quality of the food was outstanding, the absent service was not over. We wanted to get the some dipping sauce for the pizza crust but the server was so engrossed in a conversation at another table that we waited for over 10 minutes for her to check on us and by then we gave up and just asked for the check.
This is hands down the absolute worst service that I have experienced at any restaurant in Frisco and as good as the food was, it will be a long time...
