My wife and I tried some sushi today. Our server was very nice but our experience was not good. As we were ordering our server greeted the owners as they walked in. They had a party of about 8. We put our order in as they sat. I didn't think much of it until our food never came out. There were only 4 tables sat in the entire place and all the food was going to the owners table, about 10 dishes. They were having such a a fun time. We asked about our food and they said that they are just starting it. Here is my problem, the owners stopped the service for all the customers and jumped the line to get fed. My wife and I waited over 30 minutes in an almost empty restaurant only to watch the owners and their friends enjoy their lunch. I have a problem with that.
Now, the food! I promise I can get past all things wrong with a restaurant if their food is good, but, it wasn't. The online menu had much more to offer than inside the restaurant, maybe because it was lunchtime so that's ok. We wanted sushi so we ordered a few rolls and some spicy gyoza. Sushi was hard to pick from since everything seemed to either be filled with imitation crab and mayo "crab")or minced tuna and mayo ("spicy tuna"), which I understand is pretty much standard practice in most sushi places in Dallas. The gyoza were pretty good but the dumpling was a bit overcooked so they fell apart easy. The sushi was very flavorless and very small on fish portion size. The tuna roll was bouncy and dry and hard to choke down. The spicy tuna that was inside the roll was left on the plate to go to the trash because it was not palatable. It turns out they are mixing "crunch" (breading) into the mixture like a cheap crab cake. It was mealy, dry and off putting in flavor. I am a critic of food more than I wish to be but my wife usually doesn't care...we both couldn't finish our sushi because it was not good.
We were very excited to try this place but we were derailed by poor restaurant standards and poor food practices and poor fish quality.
Perhaps their cooked items might be a better way to go if there is a next time. I understand that we only ordered 4 things so our review should only go so far, yet it has left a heavy...
Read moreA super interesting new place here in West Frisco! Let's start the review
Location: The restaurant is in an open shopping center that has had an unbelievable amount of growth and action over the last 6 months. The place has comfortable parking options and isn't too far from the tollway, offering easy access. 5/5
Ambiance: I would call it functional and clean in layout than fancy. There is a sushi bar with seating options and then seats all around. 4.5/5
Service: this is where I found the restaurant scored the highest. The young man named Josh who helped us was so super efficient, attentive and responsive that a minor glitch in terms of ordering was solved quick. A solid 6/5. Thanks Josh
Food: A nice collection of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, specialty rolls along with a very impressive array of Ramen options leveraging Pork, Chicken, Mushrooms and Veg. They also have a thoughtful Kids ramen which Is delightful! We ordered Frisco roll - the freshness and taste was spot on. The flavors were lively and except for a mistake I did in ordering it initially, it still scored a solid 4.5/5 Kids ramen - The kid enjoyed every bit of the noodles, chashu & soup. A reliable 5/5 Spicy curry ramen - The one which has corn in it along with the seasoned egg et al. The flavor profile was bomb and the play of meat, curry spices and the stock hit the right spot. A delightful 5.5/5
Overall a must try Ramen spot! Good show...
Read moreFirst off, they had a small bug walking on the floor in the waiting area. Not that big of a deal….but then I ordered chicken ramen. I ordered extra chicken because they are so cheap and only put two pieces. Still, that’s fine I’ll pay the extra $3 for two pieces of chicken. My issue is, I order the food. Drive home. (1 hr away back and forth) Realize they didn’t add the chicken. I drive back to notify them, thinking, hey, maybe for all the trouble I’d keep the ramen and get a fresh one or get a discount or anything for the trouble. Nope. Cheap man disregards my whole explanation and “makes a new order”. With two more pieces of chicken. So no sorry or apology from anyone. He definitely didn’t make a new order because the tend to serve it behind the counter but he took it into the back kitchen. The noodles were clumped up together, stiff…not fresh. And it didn’t taste like usual. Also, they steal money from their employees because the employees always press “no tip” for me because it doesn’t even go to them. (Which I’m sure is illegal) The cook that served the food the first time around was STARING at my wife from across the restaurant, maybe he should have used that same energy to stare at the order as he made it instead. Nothing but a horny, dirty joke of a man. And the fact that they gave me the same food and just added chicken is laughable. They...
