I ordered 1 order of crispy shrimp rolls, 1 orange chicken and 1 sesame chicken, both with brown rice as the side.
The main dishes were pretty bad for several different reasons. The chicken on both dishes had a very stringy and stiff texture. I felt pretty ill for a few hours after trying 1/2 of each dish on separate nights. I am not sure of the nutrition facts for any of these dishes, but my body's reaction was similar to what happens when I consume way too much sodium; sweating, swelling, and general nausea. I requested a substitute for beef as the protein on the sesame dish. The restaurant called me and informed me that they can't substitute protein on dinner dishes. This means that either these dishes are not made fresh per order, and/or this restaurant is not willing to make a basic protein substitution. Either way, I'm not happy. The broccoli on both these dishes was pale, wilted and soggy 20 minutes after the food was handled to me. The broccoli felt, looked and tasted like it was strewed in the sauce for way way way too much time. I threw half of each of these dishes away to avoid further physical discomfort. The best part of the dishes were the sides of plain brown rice.
On a positive note, the spring rolls are fantastic. They are surprisingly large; about 8 inches long per roll, with several pieces of shrimp in each roll. I ate them too fast so I couldn't take a picture of them.
I ordered 2 different dinners to try this restaurant out for the first time. If I paid, $5-$6 per dish, I'd understand and accept the food I received. This food is absolutely not worth $13 per dish. If I ever come back, I'll just order the...
Read moreThis small, simple, neighborhood restaurant has stood the test of time as it has thrived for years in a commercial location that has seen many other restaurants try and fail within months. It’s a testament to a menu that features a variety of Asian dishes that would go up against any peer in the DFW area.
Which culinary treasures will make you feel warm and cozy inside while you eat on a cold day? Try the peanut curry with chicken. Peanut not your flavor? Try the yellow curry with shrimp or chicken. If you have a big appetite, try the fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp are so big and portions so generous, you’ll think you got an extra portion for free.
Still looking for more great dish options? Try the pad Thai, the sweet and sour chicken, or their egg drop soup.
Yum Asian is just one of those neighborhood restaurants that only you will know about. I should know. I’ve been picking up food from them for years. Don’t be surprised if you end up...
Read moreThe food was ok although it took 20mins to even get someone to take our order and they got our order wrong twice and only half of our food came out and we had to wait 15mins for the other half which was children’s food then the waiter was so darn rude! He hit me in the forehead with his arm when he was reaching over me to put a drink down he didn’t say excuse me or anything! Then my son was trying to use the rest room and the same waiter tried to push my 9 year old out of the way to get in the restroom which only had one stall I had to jump in front of this waiter to stop him from walking in on my 6 year old and he was very nasty about it then on the way out to the table he almost pushed myself and my 4 year old over while hugging and puffing at us for being “in his way” I will never ever go back to this restaurant the service was horrible and the people...
