Zen and Ginger — Restaurant in Fruit Cove

Not sure what was going on with our boba teas? When we arrived there was only a group of two finishing receiving their orders. We only ordered two Taro snow teas. We had never had a snow variation before so we asked what it was and was told it would be like a smoothie. It took about ten minutes to get our drinks. We only ordered two drinks. The gal was nice but she had to keep going to the back and then I think a gentleman was having to make our drinks and it looked like there was confusion with our drinks. We never actually saw them get made as they spent most of the time in the back. When we finally got our drinks, the flavor was right but the texture was terribly off. There were nonstop bits of non-dissolvable matter throughout the entire drink. We thought at first maybe granules of sugar but they never dissolved. This was throughout the entire drink and was quite possibly the taro powder? We drink taro boba tea all the time and have never experienced this. Not sure if their variation included edible snow or something in it but it was pretty gross and we had been traveling already 8 hrs at that time and were back on the highway and were too tired to turn back around. If this was how their snow drink tasted (we’ve had other snow variations since at two other places and did not have this problem) then I highly suggest you inform people this who aren’t familiar with your version. Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt with its “grand opening” that it would be busier than a typical restaurant. But it became ridiculous waiting to pick up my take out food through Uber eats. Waited for one hour and 15 minutes, this is after i swung by the cashier to tell her my Ubereats pick up was ready. I think they had the “oh shiet” look that they’ve forgot to even begin making the order. On top of this you’ve got numerous other parties waiting for their order. Food is decent, and I’m as Vietnamese as they come around here. Hoping they take this feedback to better staff their shop or atleast provide a more realistic waiting time for their customers.

UPDATE Came out with my order but missing one of my entrees, currently waiting for a replacement entree to be made since I’ve just been made aware that they are out of the wonton soup. 1 hour and 40 minutes at this time, I’ll check back in a bit!

UPDATE 2 Finally got my replacement entree, owner did not charge me for it which is a step in the right direction. Hoping they figure out how to push these orders out quicker. I’m hoping their business prospers in...

I was waiting to review and alas here we go, the owner is awful, he doesn’t put the AC on for the workers, he is the worst boss ever. He has the staff start out with 10 stars for the day and as day progresses he takes stars away, ok cool, but this stars also get taken away from the others working same shift!!! atmosphere is meh, orders are so slow! The workers try their best but have no support from management. Funny two people gave their 2 week notice on same day and next day he turned around and said they stole from him with no proof and fired them next day after they gave 2 weeks. Like really they stole a drink?? Laughable! How can you support a place that doesn’t care for its workers? I really didn’t want to share this, but if no one says anything these poor workers are working for peanuts and treated like garbage - over priced mediocre food and Bobba, save your money and time and go elsewhere.. shame on...
