⭐ 1 Star (Only because I can’t leave 0) Location: McDonald’s - 6095 Kalamazoo St, Grand Rapids, MI - date was 07/16/25 at 9:25 pm.
This was hands down the worst McDonald’s experience we’ve ever had—and we travel across the U.S. regularly, eating at McDonald’s everywhere. This location is an absolute disaster.
We ordered three Happy Meals. One came with zero chicken nuggets—just a disgusting scoop of tartar sauce in the box. Yes, you read that right. Another Happy Meal that was supposed to have six nuggets only had four, and no fries. The third? We didn’t even bother opening it after that—because at that point we were half-joking (but also half-serious) that someone might have spit in the burger.
To make it worse, the drinks were half full with no ice. Like, not even trying at this point.
We also ordered four chocolate chip cookies. Instead of giving us four individual cookies (like literally every other McDonald’s on the planet), they handed us four pre-packaged 3-cookie packs, totaling $9. We didn’t want that. When we asked for a refund and just requested two packs, they gave us a partial refund of around $4 and then never gave us any cookies at all.
And let’s talk about the drive-through employee—barely coherent, mumbling like he was high or completely out of it, and had no idea what he was doing. We were left sitting there in stunned silence just wondering how this is real life.
This place is so bad it feels intentional. I don’t say that lightly—I am genuinely convinced the staff was messing with us on purpose. Either they hate their jobs, or they’ve completely given up. Either way, these people should not be working in customer service, let alone representing a global brand like McDonald’s.
McDonald’s corporate needs to shut this place down and start over. Fire everyone and bring in a crew that knows how to count to six and maybe—just maybe—understands how a Happy Meal works.
DO NOT go here. EVER. You’ll leave with less food, more rage, and a total loss of faith in humanity.
We will attempt to contact corporate and see where this goes. At the very least a full refund and an apology would be nice.
Please save yourself the time (and agony) go to the McDonald’s at 4596 32nd ave, Hudsonville, MI (just 5-10 mins away) for accurate and clean food, a friendly staff and an experience like you would expect from a...
Read moreHaving gone to this location several times, almost every experience has been bad. Granted, the morning - early afternoon is much better but evenings and especially nighttime are horrible. Bad order accuracy, food that’s extremely sloppy and poorly assembled, rude employees, etc. I know it’s a McDonalds but this one in particular is run extremely poorly.
Now, the thing that pushed me to write a review was my experience tonight. Myself along with probably 8-10 other cars were waiting in the drive thru to order for an extended period of time with no movement. Mind you, this was during posted hours. I even called to verify they were open which they assured me they were. After waiting another ten minutes cars started to clear out…
I finally drove up to the window to see what was going on and the employees were listening to rap music, joking around and more or less doing nothing besides maybe cleaning. This was before they were closed and after they said they’d be taking orders… If they closed early or just didn’t want to work they could’ve at least told people so myself and a lot of other people didn’t waste our time. Then again, the employees I saw didn’t even have headsets on - they don’t care!
I will not be returning to this location and I would encourage others to do the same. Being fast food the bar is already pretty low but the complete disregard for their customers is ridiculous. I just wanted to grab a snack for myself and my child and couldn’t even do that.
Edit: I made the mistake of going back today (07/29). Drive thru was extremely slow even though it wasn’t busy. Person taking the order rung up our food wrong. Asked for a happy meal toy and offered to pay - they put it on our order but it wasn’t in the bag along with the incorrect food.
Went back inside to politely ask for both and was told “we don’t do that” by the same person who took our order. Then, she just never came back to address the mistaken food order. Seriously, do...
Read moreWould not recommend, especially at night. Yesterday my girlfriend and I went and got the collectible meal, get to the intercom and tell them my drive through code then I get to the window and they try giving me the wrong thing before eventually getting me the right order. Not too bad, could’ve been a simple mix up which is understandable but we got what we ordered. But then today we went back and got the same thing, there was no line behind us, I pull up to the intercom and give my code to which they say pull up to the window. I pull up to the window, the girl at the window looks at me like she has no order for us or anything in the system at all, asked what we got then asked to see the receipt. Sees our receipt then walks away from the window for a few minutes, during this time another girl walked up and filled up her own drink and stepped away as they played music then finally minutes later the original girl came back and asked what we had to drink and got us those, then she gave us our bag which didn’t have the collectible cups so we had said something and she told us they didn’t have the cups and when we asked if they were out of them and she just said no. So they didn’t have our order ready despite acknowledging our code at the intercom, saw our receipt in which plainly said we got the collectible meal yet didn’t say they supposedly were out or didn’t have the cups, then made us wait probably 5 minutes just to give us a normal meal and then say they didn’t have cups. If they ran out or something then that should’ve been said at the start so we could get a refund instead of spending extra money on a regular meal…not after they’ve handed us our drinks...
