The waitress charged me 25% tip without even showing me the tipping screen. This is unacceptable. When I called the restaurant, the manager never apologized to me and had a very bad attitude. I will never come back.
Follow-up response: This was a UF business dinner, and UF does not allow us to tip beyond 18%, so there is no way that I would have authorized a 25% tip. The receipt indicates that “Parties of 8+ guests are subject to an 18% gratuity” on it and so I did not pay attention to this until today when I was uploading receipts for reimbursement. When I spoke with the manager, he first claimed that it must be my mistake. He also suggested that it was a 22% after-tax tip, not the 25% that I claimed. Here are the numbers: subtotal is $231, tax is $17.34, total is $248.34, tip is $57.75, and total charge is $306.09. $57.75/$248.34 = 22.44%, and $57.75/$231=25%. Who is lying here, hmm?
The manager also said that the revoked charges will be deducted from the waitress’s paycheck (which I hope that they do not, but it is not my business) and stated multiple times that “if this is what you want to do to our waitress…”
Maybe it was just a minor mistake by the waitress, but if a restaurant has its manager using lies and emotional blackmail to respond to customer concerns and its owner quickly responding to my Google review by indicating that I am a customer that they “are unable to please my needs,” can we trust anything...
Read moreWe were just here for a group event this past weekend and had two servers that just really went out of their way to be helpful and they deserved a public acknowledgement. We attended a HH event and had brought our baby- from securing high chairs, getting hot water for her bottle, making sure we were all stocked with food and drinks since the group I was with all had young kids, M-kay and Ashton (I'm sure I am butchering the spelling) were both amazing. I already love this location for these events because the food is amazing (the veggie quesadilla is soooo good), but the servers this time (and the bartender was super sweet too!) really were outstanding. I hope someone at Cantina Anejo sees this to pass it along to the right people, but they deserver a shout out! Can't wait for the next...
Read moreSeriously good people… Coming from 1,800 miles away to drop-off our son at UF we didn’t know what to expect of the local bars and restaurants… After being welcomed by Anna, a UF grad student, we enjoyed dinner with friends and a couple tasty tequila drinks. Since we didn’t know the area and the Cantina Añejo atmosphere was upbeat and fun we decided to stay for a couple more drinks. The General Manager, Brandon, noticed we decided to stay and kindly bought us another round. After a brief introduction Brandon shared his role with the company and other great restaurants (check-out O.A.K.) and bars they own. Brandon shared his UF story and we quickly realized we found our spot for future visits. Coming from so far away, we felt welcomed and knew our son was in...
