Description: Country Foodly is a small breakfast/brunch restaurant that adds a touch of excitement with several Korean options including the popular bulgogi omelette. With a diner like atmosphere, it creates a heartwarming and old fashioned feel with wooden tables and booths.
Food & Service: I went with two other friends. I ordered the bulgogi omelette while the other two ordered the chicken & waffles and the meaty omelette. All three in my opinion were pretty delicious. The bulgogi omelette is definitely a unique twist to a very traditional breakfast option. Perfectly cooked with savory sweet bulgogi and white rice, it was well worth the price in my opinion. It also comes with a side (I chose the home fries). To be honest, the rice and home fries were a tad bland. My friend's chicken and waffles was delicious. The chicken was moist and flavorful while the waffle was nice and fluffy. The honey mustard was a good compliment and brought everything together.
Service was a little slow but completely reasonable since she was the only server available with a packed diner. I can tell they're trying to cut costs but adding a second server might help. Regardless, our server was very kind and accommodating. Food came out relatively quick too.
Final Thoughts: While it's a pretty long drive from where I live, if I'm looking for somewhere to bring a friend that is different from traditional breakfasts selections, I would totally drag them here. The bulgogi omelette and chicken & waffles are both excellent picks. My friends and I came on a random day in the summer and the place was packed so expect some sort of wait. The restaurant is also kind of small so it's probably best to bring 3 other friends at most. There is one big table in the middle - be prepared to sit next to strangers if needed basically. All in all, I would totally recommend this place. Yeah it's a little far, but it's restaurants like these that make Gainesville's food scene a little more...
Read moreHaving never tried this place for breakfast, I stopped in this past weekend, excited to try a new greasy spoon. I found a seat easily in this small but quaint restaurant, and the wait staff was friendly and prompt. The restaurant features a full breakfast/lunch menu (served all day) that includes Korean-inspired dishes as well as traditional diner fare.
My husband and I both got the French toast breakfast (four slices of French toast, two eggs, and a side of meat), and because we are vegetarian, we asked to sub a side of home fries for the meat, and luckily it was no issue and no up-charge (woo hoo!).
Everything was cooked perfectly without being too greasy. While there wasn't anything groundbreaking about the French toast and eggs, it was still hearty and delicious. We were quite surprised by the home fries, which were sliced in flat ovals and seasoned with a kick. They were the star of the show; we both cleaned our plates.
As a vegetarian, this isn't the best option for breakfast. They do offer a veggie omelet, and there seemed to be no issue subbing out meat for another side option, but you're not going to find a range of breakfast choices like you mind find at the Top or the Jones. Still, there IS something for you here, and it will be delicious and comfort-food-ish.
I probably won't return, simply because there isn't anything for me here that I couldn't make on my own. I think the restaurant could really up its appeal by including a vegetarian Korean dish (maybe some tofu Bulgogi??) -- something I definitely could not make quite as well on my own, especially in the morning! But for my carnivore friends, this is a nice, clean spot that offers an interesting spin on the usual breakfast options. It's off the beaten path for Gainesville and totally worth...
Read moreAs a korean guy in Florida, this place was very hole-in-the-wall, not too flashy, but some sort of well known secret all in one. It has a lot of reviews already but the appearance doesn't assume an outward and modern marketing type look. It's simple, the food is simple, the people are simple. The prices are great for the food you get and the biscuits are probably one of my favorites here now. Very impressed on my first time here with the korean spicy pork omlette that had a very good ratio of pork to rice to egg. The tastes were familiar despite being in Florida, even the hash browns had some sort of familiar flavor to them that I couldn't put a finger on yet. I would argue that this place is more "Korean" than the scarcely few others in Gainesville. I'm sure the bulgogi omlette is just as good and that's next on the list. I heard the owner's name in passing so in case they see this,...
