Pascals is the best Coffeehouse in Gainesville. And i've tried them all.
Their coffees are made exceptionally well, particularly their Coffee Chillers (Frappuccino-esque) and Espresso-Based drinks. Their sugar-infused Cuban Lattes are decadent. Cappuccinos or brewed coffees have NEVER tasted bitter or burnt.
The REASON you come to Pascals is the atmosphere. There is ample seating, including comfortable couches beside a fireplace, second-floor tables inside nooks of bookshelves, and first- and second-floor balcony patios. The music and ever-changing gallery of art adorning the walls add to the ambience.
They also offer some great food options. Pastries taste fresh and are served toasted warm. Hummus and crackers offer a lighter snack. Their bagels beat out the overpriced Einstein fare on-campus.
And you MUST order their Columbian Cheese Bread with a little drizzle of honey-- delicioso!
The baristas are accommodating and considerate, always willing to take the time to explain how they make a drink or customize your order to your liking.
It might take slightly longer to receive your coffee, but that's the point. You won't have the long lines out the doors like the library Starbucks or be rushing to give your order and grab your drink. So don't come to Pascals to feel rushed.
Pascals is located conveniently across the street from campus. During midterms and finals you might have trouble finding a seat... or a parking space.
Their wi-fi is sometimes spotty but mostly reliable.
Pascals is a Gainesville treasure that I...
Read moreThe coffee is pretty good but I like their chai best. The pastries are delicious and it’s an enjoyable environment. I’m writing a review because of a negative experience I had a few weeks ago. I am a student and was a regular customer coming in at least 3x a week. I decided to park and walk to class one day after getting a cup of coffee, because I didn’t see any signs posted advising against this, and hadn’t seen or heard any policy about this in my 2+ years of coming to this coffee shop. When I returned, there was a sloppy note on my car that said “we have written down your car info. Next time you park and walk, we’ll tow your car.” The note was not only rude but overly threatening. You are not GPD or Judge Judy. You are a coffee shop, and a pretty average one at that. Apparently “please don’t park and walk” was too polite of a message. I have no problem respecting a rule but you should at least post a sign before threatening your customers. This experience put a bad taste in my mouth and I haven’t come back since. I just hope you don’t continue to do this to other customers in the future because it was...
Read morePascal's is far and away my favorite coffee shop! One of—if not THE—best coffee shops I've ever been to. Pascal's approaches coffee-making as a craft, so every drink ordered is treated with care. They specifically buy high-quality, ethically sourced coffee and partner with local Gainesville roasters, so the drinks themselves taste amazing. What's more, though, Pascal's feels cozy. So many specialty coffee shops these days don't feel like the kinds of places you can sit for hours in comfort. But I can spend all day at Pascal's and feel totally at home: The abundant natural light, the pine wood and white walls, and the string lights all give the place a really warm and welcoming atmosphere. It feels like the perfect "third place". I think the best part of Pascal's, though, is the people who work there. They emphasize hospitality and connection, so the baristas are always super kind. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough!! Stop in for their cuban espresso with milk (one of the only places in town where you can get it!) and stay for hours for the vibrant but still...
