Very pleasant bakery/pizza place right off the highway. My wife and I tried a number of their pastries and the pizza.
The individual-sized pastries we tried were incredibly rich and intensely flavored, especially the Death By Chocolate. The name is only a slight exaggeration. They were all bit too much for us because of the intensity.
The German sausage kolaches were just OK. I liked the crunchy casing on the sausage while my wife did not, and it also has a hint of spiciness. There's a slight sweetness to the bread. We normally don't like sweetened rolls, but it wasn't too bad here.
However, we were huge fans of the blueberry cake loaf. It was amazing, especially when warmed up and paired with ice cream.
We bought one of their cream cheese strudels as well. The outside is a soft, pleasantly flaky crust and the filling is an almost fluffy, sweetened cream cheese mixture. It's a bit like cheesecake. My wife and both enjoyed it, and would recommend it.
We also tried their pizza, and we both agreed that it was some of the best pizza we've ever had. It was borderline perfect.
To be clear, all of this was bought over two different trips, we didn't buy this all at once!
We definitely recommended visiting Rumpy's if you're...
Read moreAfter passing Rumpy's several times on trips to Oklahoma my wife and I decided to give it a try based on reviews. To give it a fair shake we loaded up. We got cronuts, fried pies, a raspberry strudel (or what passes for strudel here) and a pecan pie. The best I can say is their products are eatable. I expected the cronuts to be light and fluffy with layered pastry. What we got instead were greasy lumps of dough that was neither light nor flaky. The pastry on the fried pies was bland, greasy and very heavy. The filling in the coconut pie was tasty but I suspect commercially prepared. The strudel consists of what appeared to be previously frozen, again probably commercially prepared, folded over a commercially prepared jam. The pastry like the cronuts was neither light nor flaky. We each had a small piece then discarded the majority of it. Not worth burning the calories. The pecan pie is at best average. I can get better from the Walmart bakery for less than half the price. The best I can say is their products are eatable though definitely not worth the expenditure in...
Read moreCame in Friday afternoon for the first time in about 10 years to pick up two pizzas I had ordered. I asked the girl carrying my pizzas "how much are the pies?" she pops off in the rudest shortest tone at me "what?!" So I timidly repeat myself although at this point I don't care I just want to get out and I should have just left the pizzas and walked out. And she looks at me disgusted and snaps back " it depends on the pie". I just replied "oh okay" paid her for the pizzas and left. I don't know if she was having a bad day or why she felt the need to talk to a random customer like that. Also pizza isn't what it was 10 years ago. $50 for 2scrawny little pizzas that are supposed to be an XL I...
