Have been coming here recently and have enjoyed the food, especially the stuffed shells, and have had no problems. Tonight, Saturday, July 25th, my wife and I went there personally and placed an order of three orders of stuffed shells with soup at exactly 6:32 PM and were told that it would be 20 minutes. We waited outside until the 20 minutes passed and I went in and was informed that it would be just a little longer. After 38 minutes, I was told by the young lady at the counter that it would be about another 5 minutes. At 50 minutes they brought it out and said it was ready finally. I voiced my displeasure at the wait and said that they should of told us that it would have taken at least 40 minutes at the outset and we could of dealt with that. I got some song and dance from her and another fellow (the one who originally took our charge and told us the wait would be 20 minutes) about how busy they were and the other dining room was full and so on. When I questioned about people that had come 20 minute after us and were served before us, I was told that they had called in their orders. I replied that these were customers who I had sat and watched as they came in and placed their orders at the counter and not called them in. Then they said that they were ordering pizzas that didn't take so long and I said that there were a number of people that had not ordered pizza, but other items similar to ours as I had noticed since I was sitting next to the order counter while waiting the last 30 minutes and had taken notice as to what was being ordered and what was going on. What I got from both the young lady and the other fellow was just a bunch of empty excuses and attitude. I also noticed that they had fouled up one fellow pizza order and rather than apologize for the delay, the counter fellow just told him that the order had something wrong with it and were redoing it. The young gal also told me that I didn't know what it was like in a busy kitchen to which I replied that I had worked in far many more kitchens and restaurants than she ever had and I certainly knew what it was like but also told her that they should have given us a much better estimate of the time that the order would take. Someone should teach both the young gal, but especially the other counter guy, a better perspective of time, appropriate etiquette, customer service, and to stop handing a transparent line of BS concerning delays. We were becoming good customers but that no longer is going to happen! They should remember that good news travels fast but bad news travels much faster and gets spread even faster. I will not speak well to anyone in the future concerning this...
Read more2018: Less than mediocre. Only ordered a cheesesteak. Cost was 8.51. Not much meat. It was placed on top of the tomato and lettuce to give the illusion of a full sandwich. The roll is a big factor and can make up for lack of steak but this failed terribly in that area. The roll was too "bready" and seemed stale. Points for making it making it the way I ordered. The service was quick and the restaurant very clean in the patron area. I may come back to try the pizza but will pass on the cheesesteak. I have to be fair in saying I came from an area that had cheesesteaks that were off the hook so it is hard to compare. But even then this was not worth the price or ordering again.
UPDATE: 12-4-2024. Tonight we ordered the Philly Cheesesteak pizza with ricotta, tomatoes and fried onions. It was probably one of the best pizzas I have ever had. With our additional toppings along with the steak, provolone and American cheese we had a winner! Cooked to perfection. We also ordered the capellini with Rosa sauce which was very good and would have been excellent if I remembered to request a little extra sauce. Chicken tortellini soup was full of chicken, veggies and tortellini. Garlic knot was delicious dipped in the broth. My only negative are the cheesesteak egg rolls which were dry from lacking the creaminess of cheese. Costello’s has been making strides with the food and they have always had the nicest people working there. Has become one of our go to places in recent months. Keep up...
Read moreI was recommended to visit smithville while visiting AC for my honeymoon. All the shops were nice and everyone decent. However, my husband and I were hungry and saw this pizza shop. At first sight it looked ok, but there is no order in having people wait in line and people try to skip you. The biggest problem they have here is the cashier girl. She was a thin build dark hair and looks like she hates her job. I’m already feeling aggravated because one lady who arrived after me is trying to jump ahead of me cashier girl sees says nothing. So when finally I think she’s done with the customer ahead of me I quickly state could I have 4 slices please when you have a chance, this nasty 🤮 cashier who obviously hates her job snaps at me. “Oh can I finish with the next customer “ but she says it with an attitude and no kind of professionalism. She could of made the situation better by using a different tone and not showing an attitude. Your cashier is not cut out for customer service, fire her and get someone who won’t crack under the stress. Needless to say I left did not purchase a thing there and will never go back here ever. I will make sure friends and family never go either. Pizza also looked old. My first time and last time at Smithville shops all because of one bad egg. Hope she gets the help she needs to improve her attitude and hope this pizza owner lets her go and gets better employees. You will keep losing business...
