When I searched for a place to eat breakfast, this was the closest pancake house. Usually I don't touch restaurants under a 4.3 rating and this one had a 3.5, but I took a chance because we were in a hurry. Well, that was my mistake.
The restaurant was full of mistakes. The first one was after my 10 month old spilled a drink on accident, our waitress said "I knew it, I saw that one coming" with an attitude and acted annoyed that she had to clean up some water. She was rude enough to make me uncomfortable, so I took my daughter outside and was ready to leave. My kids were hungry so my wife continued with our order.
We ordered 2 chocolate chip pancake kids meals and one of them didn't come with chocolate chips. So we had to wait forever for them to bring cold chocolate chips to put on the now cold pancakes, needless to say they didn't melt. All 4 kids meals were supposed to come with a side of bacon, and all bacon was forgotten. We had to wait a long time for the sides of bacon and when they brought them, they gave us 1 piece per kid when they told us there were supposed to be 2 pieces per kid. We also had a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich in which the cheese was forgotten because our waitress did not put it on the order. We waited a long time for cold cheese to be brought to put on our now cold sandwich. Also she did not bring us any of our drinks the entire meal. She would not come back around to our table in order for us to ask for them either. After we were about to get up to leave, she had the nerve to come and ask us if we still wanted our drinks.
When we brought all of this up to the cashier, she said let me go get your waitress. She then came back and told us our waitress said our total was the entire amount of our meal, including our drinks we did not receive. We then asked for the manger and told them everything and were treated very rudely and were told excuses trying to cover for the waitress. They also then told us that the kids meals only came with 1 piece of bacon, after we had been told 2.
All in all, from the start, this experience was a nightmare. I heard other tables orders being messed up around us as well. How this place is still in business, I have no clue, the summer vacation season where they take advantage of everyone must barely get them by. Do yourself a favor and skip this one, you'll get better service at...
Read moreWhere do I begin. Today my wife and I ate at this establishment, and I have to say it has to be one of the worst restaurants in the Murrells Inlet/Myrtle Beach area to dine at. The Server (waitress), though pleasant misrepresented the items on the menu and had to check frequently with the staff on what ingredients are used in our meal due to dietary/allergy restrictions. The server also informed us there was “NO” up/additional charge for what we ordered, specifically French fries, in place of hash browns. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which came with 2 small, flat dried pieces of corned beef and little sauerkraut. My wife ordered a three-egg mushroom and feta cheese omelet. The egg was dry and lacking consistency. The mushrooms were out of a can. Her hash browns were cold and hard. The waitress said she would replace them with French fries at “no extra cost.” The bill came and we were charged $28.42, a $4.50 extra charge for the French fries. In breaking down the bill our true order was $22.75, plus 8% sales tax ($24.12) we had a $9.00 local coupon which should have brought the bill to $15.12. My wife went to the front counter and was approached by a very rude and older disheveled male, wearing what appeared to colorful pajama pants. He said there is always a up charge for the French fries, even though she told him the waitress said, “NO EXTRA CHARGE.” With that said he was given a $50 bill and would only return $25. My wife argued with him, and he provided her with another three additional dollars for a total of $28.00 cash returned. We should have received $34.88 not $28.00. He refused to address the issue or provide us with monies owed to us. As we were leaving, I politely asked him what his name was, and he refused to provide it. He did not want to address the issue of the bill or how much was returned in cash. I informed him that I come from a large family of restaurant owners some in the same area and I myself had worked as an assistant chef for a large restaurant chain and he should have been more courtesy and understanding of our bill, the food, and the waitress’ misrepresentation of the food items. My overall take on this restaurant is the food is awful, over-cooked and dry, small portions, overpriced for what you pay and “theft of money.” As locals we will never return to this restaurant and will make sure the...
Read moreThis place has been in business 35 years according to their sign, so they must be doing something right. I vaguely remember visiting this restaurant many years ago but can't recall the specifics. However, I remember my visit yesterday 9/12 very well. The first thing I noticed was the waitress was nice and friendly. The interior appeared clean but could really use a little updating. We arrived around 11am. There were a total of 8-10 other customers there. We both ordered the house omelet thinking that would be a good bet! I did notice that breakfast for two larger parties that came in after us were served before us. I took that as a positive thing assuming that our omelets were being made to order. Our breakfast came out after 20-25 minutes. This seemed a little long even for freshly made omelets, but so be it. I wouldn't have minded the way but the omelets were terrible. I eat and cook eggs for breakfast quite often and there is absolutely no way we were served 3 egg omelets. At first we had planned to split one but decided we would just take home our leftovers. Had the portion been the only issue, this would probably be a 4 or even a 5 star review. Unfortunately, the "house" omelets were terrible. Given the texture of the eggs, they were either old, left out or powdered eggs. But the worst part was the taste. It reminded me of "freezer burned" meat. Nothing in the omelet was unusual. Just the standard veggies and sausage. We were unable to narrow down the specific root of that terrible taste. It appeared to be coming from each ingredient. I can't say for a fact, but this led me to believe that the ingredients were possibly cooked and stored together for easier preparation. I can say for sure that something was either old or spoiled. In hindsight, I wish we had spoken up, but the waitress was really nice and we honestly didn't have time to wait that long again. Like I said in the beginning, they must be doing something right. Any restaurant that can stay open 35 years in the Myrtle Beach area has to be. We still tipped the waitress 30%, but this meal on this day...
