Wildflour Bakery — Restaurant in Garden City

This review is based off the multiple breads and cookies I grabbed at the downtown Winco location. Hands down, Wildflour is one of the best local bakeries Boise has to offer.

To begin, the selection is endless! They have breads, cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, pastries, and scones off all kinds of flavors. Blueberry, raspberry, chocolate chip, mocha toffee, gingerbread, oh my word you name it! To date, my absolute favorite sweet treats are the Chocolate Walnut cookies ($4.95 for a 6 pack) and, even better, the Blueberry Sour Cream Loaf ($7.95). The latter is sooooooo good! It tastes delicious with a strong cup’o’jo in the A.M. It’s very moist, and the sour cream adds a unique, sweet flavor to the blueberries. It’s almost like eating a super smooth cake. I’m always impressed by how fresh it is despite being made a day or so prior (date is printed in packaging). This bread is best when the blueberries are in season.

I’m giving people a lot of goodwill these with staffing issues and all, but the wait times here were absolutely ridiculous. Going on 20 minutes waiting for some breakfast sandwiches and we are the only customers. Staff at the front has been chatting with a friend the whole time. When I asked for a timeline she said they’re understaffed, which is hard to take seriously when she is not working and there are at least two people in the back. And again, we’re the only customers. I love everything about these guys! Their cookies are so delicious (especially the snickerdoodles) I also got the chance to try their banana bread and it took everything in me not to just eat the whole loaf in one sitting!!
