Cinder Wines — Attraction in Garden City

We arrived at 6:25 with a group of seven people, all hoping for a glass of wine. We had been hoping to visit Cinder for weeks and we were very excited. They refused to serve us anything because they closed at 7. I have never been to a place in Boise or really anywhere that was unwilling to serve a group of excited people 35 minutes before they closed. They didn’t even start to ask what we would want. We could have shared one bottle of wine? We could have purchased a case of wine. They could have offered any number of solutions or helpful words. Instead, they just said they were done serving for the night. I’ve never experienced customer service like that and I was very surprised and frustrated by it. My son and I were having a wine tasting Friday afternoon. We’re both wine people and keep extensive wine journals.

Cinder is always a stopping place but this time we were disappointed in the selections: Muscat (really sweet dessert wine, an odd addition to a tasting), Sangiovese, Rowen (GSM), Valentina (Bordeaux blend). None were 5 out of 5, our own system. Our server gave us some additional pours, particularly since the Muscat seemed out of place for us. That extra pour of Tempranillo was exceptional. Just wish the others had been.

Not only is the wine excellent (I've never had a rose I didn't love there), but the service is also custom and top notch. I placed a club order and discussed with the woman helping me that I wouldn't get to enjoy their lovely wine again until later this year because I'm currently pregnant. She wished me well, and then I had a nice surprise in our shipment of a Cinder onesie that says "milk for me, wine for thee" and their logo.
