This place was so good. We ordered horchata, guacamole and chips to start. The guac was nice and chunky and super yummy. I had a carne asada, ribeye and nopal. Everything was super fresh and they cook your steak to order which is great because most places just give you well done steak. The tacos were nice and stuffed and had a creamy avocado sauce on top. My favorite was definitely the ribeye, I got mine medium, it was so juicy and savory. I also liked that the tortillas were a little fuller than most taco places so the tacos didn’t fall apart. You get a little side of nopal and a spicy pepper on the side. They have 4 different sauces, 3 spicy and one not spicy. My husband had the carnitas, Al pastor, and a ribeye. His favorite was also the ribeye. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, not just to us but everyone walking in. One of the partners took the time to come to our table and inquired about our experience and asked for feedback so they can continue to cater to their clients. I loved that he was open to suggestions, but we had nothing but good things to say and enjoyed our experience so much. Next time I wanna try the mahi mahi, octopus and the quesobirria. Whether one’s looking for the perfect spot to celebrate Taco Tuesday or just seeking out some of the local Mexican restaurants, this fast-casual Mexican establishment located off of River Drive in Garfield recently opened about a month ago and is where I decided on dinner. Just Tacos specializes only in tacos with varieties such as carne asada, carnitas, or hot-pressed birria with cheese, to name a few. Upon arrival in their modern open concept kitchen, there were a few patrons enjoying their meal and greeted by Brenda. For takeout, I opted for the carne asada (hanger steak), pollo (chicken), surf and turf (beef and shrimp), and longaniza (sausage) taco with a side of nopal (sauteed cactus leaves) and washing down with the agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea). While waiting, I exchanged a few words with one of the owners, Juan. They believe in preserving the rich heritage and history of Mexican cuisine, specifically the importance of corn in the tortilla-making process, whose tortillas are made fresh and hold the meats perfectly. Have been waiting for this to open. I stopped in yesterday, as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the staff with such big smiles.I met Nate and Johnny and 1 other server I just cant remember his name the nicest people. Nate explained a bit about the menu then gave me a taste of the amazing fresh juices, Watermelon and Hibiscus were my favorites. While I was waiting for my Taco's to be made they gave me samples of the Hanger Steak, Chicken Al Pastor and some Cactus, Wow flavors were amazing,Now i am more excited to get home and try the rest. While waiting just a short time for for my Tacos to be made fresh, Nate and the staff were a blast to talk and laugh with, which made the short wait even more worth it. Once I got home my husband and I dug in. We had the Steak, Al Pastor, Chorizo, Shrimp and Carnitas. They were all out of this world but the Carnitas was my favorite and Steak my Husbands.
