I’ve been to this restaurant three times. And every time that I have went, the food and service have been amazing. I’m reading the reviews about people complaining about them being pricey, but you are paying for quality. If you want high-quality Peruvian food, this is the place to go to.
When my husband and I entered the restaurant, they greeted us and sat us down. They gave us a complimentary fish shot aka “caldo de pescado.” The shot was very delicious. It was not an alcoholic shot. It is a fish soup shot, but it reminds me a lot of the ceviche taste.
My husband ordered the Pollo Saltado, and I ordered the shrimp chaufa and the classic ceviche “leche de Tigre” cocktail. I am Peruvian and know what ceviche should taste like. And the ceviche was by far the best ceviche I’ve ever had. If you are a ceviche fanatic like me, you need to try each one of them on a separate occasion. They have a variety of different ceviche dishes. My husband loved his Pollo Saltado. He really enjoyed the two hot sauces.
I ordered the shrimp chaufa, and it had a lot of shrimp. It was delicious and I would like to try the other chaufas with different protein.
I have tried the Trio Criollo and it’s my favorite dish. It’s has papa la huancaina, arroz verde, pollo a la brasa and ceviche. Get this! I highly recommend.
Anyway, I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s a very...
Read more8000 years ago, the Peruvian regions started cultivating Potatoes. They have 4000 to 5000 varieties of potatoes. It was only less than 500 years ago (in 1570) that Potatoes came to Spain (from the Peru region) and then from Spain to the rest of Europe (e.g. Ireland). Clearly a region with an 8000 year old history with Potatoes, knows a thing or two about making mashed potatoes. Causa Limeña De Pollo (Mashed potatoes with chicken, lime, mayonnaise, avocado, and Aji) will surpass all your expectations. Just the presentation is like a work of art.
In the central and south America, the Industry Lions, when they entertain their clients (or their Lioness), they invariably go for Peruvian Cuisine. It is an occasion when the Lioness looks at the Lion and like Sally Field says, “He likes me, he really likes me”. Keep that in mind when you goto Pisco De Mar (93 River Dr, Garfield, NJ). It is perhaps one of the more expensive Peruvian Restaurant in NJ.
Loma Saltado (Marinated strips of sirloin steak stir-fried with soy sauce, chopped red onion, & tomatoes, and served with crispy French fries & rice on the side) is a very typical Peruvian dish. If, you want to know how good Pisco De Mar is, try Loma Saltado there. Or try Causa Ceviche (Mashed Potatoes with raw fish cooked in citrus juices). These two will blow your mind. Not cheap, but it will...
Read moreOverall great experience! To start I ordered the tostones, $15 for a great amount! Super fresh with lots of lime. Delicious! To eat I ordered chaufa mixto, having chicken and steak. It looked so good I forgot to take a picture before I ate! There are three options of the lomo, ranging from $20 to $33 depending on what steak you want. The sauce was pretty good, however, I was not really impressed. It tasted kind of average and lacked some flavor. The rice was amazing, cooked so fluffy and moist. The meal named something with trio was by far my favorite. Honestly, probably the best Peruvian dish I’ve had. The chicken was cooked to a crisp perfection, juicy and crunchy. The ceviche was a fish, I’m not too sure what it was specifically but it was great. The green pea rice was addicting!! The passion fruit juice was pretty good as well! The music, vibes, and aesthetic were very nice. However, the staff wasn’t the nicest if you weren’t Hispanic/Spanish speaker. I noticed our waitress wasn’t very tentative to the people at my table other than myself. She would come to our table asking me if I wanted a box for someone else’s (someone at my table) food. Other than that, it was a good...
