Bánh Mì Cali — Restaurant in Garland

Do not eat here! My uncle bought banh mi from here on 7/19/25. He bought four combination sandwiches and five family members that ate the banh mi got very sick all with the same symptoms, fever, diarrhea, stomachaches, nausea and vomiting, and chills. Worst case of food poisoning I've ever seen. My mom was in the ER twice for IV fluids, missed a week of work, my husband and two year old son had to pay a visit to their doctor and my husband missed two days of work. My aunt and uncle endured a week and was on bed rest. I'm filing a complaint with the state health department. This place needs to be shut down. Also, that review with Tuyet Nguyen is fake. Must be the owner because she only has written one other review. No one needs to eat at this place and they own all of these other reviewers a refund and loss of income, medical bill, and compensation for pain and suffering. Everyone who got food poisoning call the Garland Health Department to report your case of food borne illness.

Update 8/5/25. The Garland health inspector called me to let me know the restaurant has since received a citation due to multiple reports. I also sent tips to ABC News Channel 5 and they sent me info to seek legal action against Banh Mi Cali. I just saw their reply stating there are other factors that made my family sick. I never thought I would write a bad review about a store until after I see someone getting food poisoning from Banh Mi Cali because I also got food poisoning after buying sandwiches in this store On July 14th, my cousin and I went to Banh Mi Cali to buy 4 (3 combinations and 1 pork roll). On July 16th both of us started to have symptoms of diarrhea including chills, fever, and dehydration. I used Dayquil and Nyquil which helped with the fever. I have a very sensitive stomach, so I had to use Equate stomach relief (similar to Pepto Bismol), but it didn’t help to slow the diarrhea because the symptoms were more severe than normal. From July 17th to July 20th were the worst times that I had dehydration, excessive fatigue, body aches and extreme headache even though I kept using Equate stomach relief to prevent diarrhea (+ Advil for headache). Finally, I started to recover on July 22nd.

Those 6 days were the worst nightmare for me. I didn’t go to check the doctor as I was able to recover. To know that my cousin and I got food poisoning at the same time & after consuming sandwiches in Banh Mi Cali plus the review from someone got Salmonella, I believe my cousin and I also got it. It was the first time and the last time I bought sandwiches in Banh Mi Cali of this location. I will not recommend buying sandwiches over here because it is not worth it for you to end up in hospital due to food poisoning. My case is completely different and happened before to the family that ended up in ER.

CRAVINGS! BANH MI DAC BIET (vietnamese cold cut french baguette )in s. Garland tx local mom & pop shop more like auntie & unc’s ( cô & chú) to me lol great cute vibes!
