Besides extremely POOR service, Frankie's also has some of the lowest Health Department inspection scores in Garland, failing by more than 15 points. Last score was 54, only 4 points from mandatory closure!
I hate writing this, but here goes. I was one of the first to review this place, I even worked at the Dairy Queen it was before when I was a kid. I came here several times and it was great. It was good to see familiar faces from Amigo's. I brought a group of 8 old friends to eat and our waiter was obviously very new. He was completely unfamiliar with the menu and he even had to grab a copy to read along with what was ordered. He could not answer any questions about the dishes. We ordered margaritas and food. Four of the eight dishes had to go back, either wrong or improperly cooked. Waiter disappeared until check time, our drink glasses sat empty, no one checked on us, and of course, the bill was crazy wrong. I didn't say anything, I just chalked it up to new waiter. I went back with my husband for my birthday dinner on a Monday night. Our waiter got our drinks, took our order, then disappeared. The manager brought our food and asked if everything was okay. I expressed surprise that my chili Relleno burrito was served with French fries. He brought me a plate of rice and beans. I ate the burrito, I didn't taste chili or chicken. It wasn't very good, I just thought I'd ordered the wrong thing. Sweetie had ordered nachos with ground beef. He told me the nachos had chorizo instead of beef. He had eaten two of the nachos. Our margarita glasses sat empty. I asked for our waiter and the manager came back. He started arguing with my husband saying it WAS ground beef. Husband said it tasted bad. Manager said it was what he ordered. He argued with us two more times that it was ground beef. Hubby said to get the food away and go away. It doesn't matter what it is if it tastes bad! We stopped the owner, who I have known for over ten years, he apologized and asked us to come back. I told him we would. Then, we were leaving, owner and manager standing by the door. They charged us!!! I paid our bill, but I will...
Read moreTo complete our Sunday funday my sister and I decided to get tacos and margaritas. After researching my sister came across this place so we came. They have a small patio with a big screen television. When you walk in, there's nothing impressive about the way it looks, think hole in the wall vibes. We were seated and provided menus. Each table had a bottle of hand sanitizer which was nice, although it smelled extra strong. Our server, Iyckxema, came to take our drink orders but we needed the drink menu which she brought over. After looking at the drink menu I ordered a premium margarita, then after a closer look of the menu I noticed they had an all day happy hour on Sunday (yes!). She described the top shelf margarita as having premium tequila and a floater so I quickly switched my order. I had the frozen top shelf margarita and my sister had it on the rocks. For food we ordered a small guacamole, I ordered the calamari tacos (3) with the veggie medley, and my sister requested veggie tacos (2) with pinto beans. We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. The drinks were delicious! Chips could've been warm. Salsa was good with a touch of heat. The guac could've used a little more seasoning. My calamari tacos were good but could've been a lil crispier. The veggie medley was well seasoned. The veggie tacos looked underwhelming so my sister requested shrimp tacos instead, which wasn't a problem. The shrimp tacos came with 3 and they were grilled. My sister enjoyed them but I think they could've used a little more flavor. Pinto beans were good and seasoned well. Our server was amazing and I will definitely be back on another Sunday to partake in the all...
Read moreMy first time at Frankie's. This one is almost on the southeast corner of Buckingham and Plano. I walked all the way around the building to find main entrance on the north left corner which was not obvious. Entrance itself a bit confusing and we waited inside but no one came, so we ventured round the corner from the porch (evidently we were in an enclosed porch area when we entered) and found reception. It was pretty crowded at 8 pm, but a young man named Jose seated us quickly. A fairly loud rustic building with a warm-looking bar and we were seated in a comfy booth. The restaurant is broken up into 3 rooms and appears to have been a home. Large TV screens were on many walls. Jose, our waiter, was young and friendly and our food came quickly as well as complimentary chios and a fairly hot homemade salsa. We received a small tostada as 1st time guests and shared one beef fajita plate. Best-tasting, most tender fajitas ever!! $19 dinner but less at lunch. Got about 8 luscious strips of beef, 4 corn (or four) tortillas, a small amt of guac and sour cream, and a serving of Spanish rice and refries. No grated cheese which I found unusual. I ordered 2 more scoops of guacamole ($5) and grated cheddar ($2). Complete!! And delicious!
The polite, tall, handsome manager (or maybe owner) came by our table several times to make sure all was good. Jose, our young waiter, was super fast and sweet. We felt so at home and stayed forever chatting.
I gave 5 stars, but I wish I could add a plus! This place is a favorite now. I may go back alone and sit in the bar tonight. That's always a good test. If a senior woman can feel safe alone in the evening. Sounds...
