Joy Kitchen may have an unassuming sign, but the Korean food inside is truly to die for. The restaurant features a simple, no-frills interior, but what it lacks in décor, it more than makes up for with its flavorful dishes and generous serving sizes. The prices are reasonable, making it a great value for the quality and portions offered.
P.s. weekday lunchtime can be busy and be ready for 20-30 minutes for food to arrive.
Operating on a self-help style, you place your order at the counter and pick it up when your ticket number is called. The stews here are especially noteworthy, packed with a generous amount of protein and bursting with authentic Korean flavors. While the drink selection is limited to sodas and water, it complements the meal just fine.
The workers are kind, genuine, and quick to serve, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Payment is flexible, with both cash and card accepted, and parking is easily available. The clean and well-maintained interior rounds out a pleasant dining experience. If you're in the mood for delicious Korean food at a reasonable price, Joy Kitchen is...
Read morePrices went up a bit but that doesn’t matter because the food is delicious. Stopped by Joy Kitchen for lunch today and couldn’t be happier. The menu is right on the wall and everything is around 10$. There were four of us and we got the spicy pork and squid stir fry (9.75$), seafood tofu soup (9.75$), Gam ja tang (9.75$), and pan fried mackerel (9.75$). Joy Kitchen is a self serve restaurant where you order you food and wait for you number to be called. What special about Joy is you can eat all the kimchi, pickles radish, purple rice and jalapeño you want but you just have to serve yourself. I thinks it’s the only restaurant they allow you to do that and it’s all so good. After a 10 minutes wait, the food came out hot, bubbling, and tasted excellent. Everything was seasoned just right and the portion size was fair. With all you can eat bon chon side dishes, you can’t really complain. They also have sweet rice drink that was refreshing and yes you can drink it as much as you want. Just clean up after yourself when...
Read moreLocated on the corner of Plano Rd and Buckingham, Joy Kitchen is a gem of a restaurant. If you are looking for authentic, hole in the wall Korean food, this is the place. My favorite dish here is the dumpling soup (manduguk). The broth is seasoned perfectly and served in a piping hot clay bowl. Included with the entree are three sides and a serving of purple rice. I was disappointed by the amount of side dishes provided compared to other Korean restaurants which is the reason for four stars. The main dish, however, was wonderful. The dumplings were very well-seasoned and the slices of beef were tender. My wife ordered the fish egg soup and it was also very delicious. Our favorite part of this restaurant is the rice drink, which used to be free but is now $2 a cup. Just like other small businesses, COVID has also had an impact on Joy Kitchen. If you are looking for great authentic Korean food then...
