La Flor De María Cocina Latina — Restaurant in Garland

My dad introduced me to this little hidden gem in 2024 and I always make an effort to go back when the opportunity comes. From the menudo, to the pupusas, tacos, and chilaquiles. I am always trying new dishes here. I have my eyes on the “Caldo de gallina” next. Fresh aguas frescas which is always a green flag!

They are renovating the street in front but it has plenty of parking space. It is a hole in the wall so I’ll be honest not the most aesthetically pleasing. The kind of place that hand writes their specials on paper and tapes it on the wall. Flor de Maria opened recently, and then Garland decided to work on Miller Road.... for ages. It's time to reward the restaurant for its persistence and go and eat there.

I ordered the Desayuno Salvadoreno and it was marvelous. Creamy, long-sliced sweet plantains, perfect eggs, ranchero style, lovely beans, and the crema. THAT was the star of the show, with the distinct flavour.

The coffee was hot, fresh and tasted great, and service constantly drops by to refill.

I recently just moved back to Dallas from Garland and what I miss the most are the pupusas from La Flor De Maria! These are honestly the best in Garland in my opinion. The masa that they use is so fluffy and they get it to be so thin so they can fill them with whatever filling you want. They serve more obscure Salvadorian fillings as well as the more popular one that everyone loves! Many other places that make pupusas have think pupusas not because of the filling but because of the masa. Here is it the opposite which is why I love them!
