The Garland Grill and Bar — Restaurant in Garland

Before the review, I would like to inform any readers that my review is solely based on the quality of the food. I ordered online via Uber Eats so this review reflects only that of this establisments cuisine exclusively. So, take some things with a grain of salt!

Okay, let us get started! For our order we had the Hamburger Steak, Fried Mushrooms, Cheese Burger combo, Nachos, and a Caesar Salad. Off the bat, the restaurant forgot to put the side of corn in with the Hamburger Steak meal. Not usually too big of a deal but this was also our first time eating from here, so, not looking too bright.

We opened our meals and everything seemed alright visually. The food looked exactly how one would expect minus only one thing. The grilled chicken was very overdone and was almost burnt. It was unappealing to say the least.

Next up: food qaulity!

I will list the appetizers first as it would be the first things one would experience going to the location in person. The mushrooms were very bland. While they were definitely juicy, which is a massive plus, the flavour of the 'shrooms was culled out by the breading and oil. There was near no actual flavour at all here. Kinda disappointing since the juiciness was great! 2/5 Stars.

Next up are the Nachos. I love the fact they were Carnival-style (Liquid cheese with beef) rather than Mexican-style (baked cheese with toppings under) but the chips they used were not too tasty. They have a peculiar flavour that just wasn't for me, personally. 4/5

Now for the main entrees! These will be from all diners perspectives, so let's do it!

First, the Hamburger Steak. The part that really destroyed the whole meal was the brown gravy. It was too strong for a meal like this and it was smothered over the whole meal. Also, considering the corn was missing, it made for an unfinished meal. 2/5

Now for the salad. As mentioned before the main problem was the chicken on top. It was way overdone and almost burnt. The other issue was the dressing. We asked for ranch and got Caesar dressing. 1/5

Lastly, the burger. The burger was actually okay. I have a minimum level of tolerance for burgers and this one met it. The fries weren't great but overall I feel the meal was simply okay at best. 2.5/5

Overall, I will say to temper expectations when it comes to the food, other than that it is simply just 'okay'. If you want any of these kinds of items, you'd be better to order them elsewhere. Match it up with the prices (all of this costed over 100 bucks), I just don't see this restaurant to be worth...

I would give this 0 zero stars if I could. The food is sub par. “As commonplace as it may be, bartenders cannot drink on the job and this is against Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code policy.” Thought I would add that fact I copied and pasted prior. Not only was the bartender too drunk to take an order of a burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion… wrote it down wrong three times. Asked for a simple well known Malibu bay breeze it’s literally cranberry juice, pineapple juice and Malibu rum. Told her ingredients for her to leave out the pineapple juice and not even offer me a straw or stir/mix my drink. Extremely rude and 100% took glasses made for a beer and would fill it with hard alcohol and walk to the side where they have slot machines and games to drink it. Sloppy, and honestly sad. Thought it was a cool place. They lost the best employee they had, Tony (the cook) who I have witnessed cater to a customer's hunger AFTER Kitchen hours! Not open on Sunday, but you call yourself a bar? What is this Chik-fil-a? Also. On my own account. I drink Jack Daniels and water (not coke), so I know my whiskey. Don't come here if you want the drink you decide to order unless it's in a beer bottle. On multiple occasions I was recieving cheap Old Crow whiskey out of a Jack Daniels bottle. I hope this bar goes down quick, so a convenient local's bar with a honest owner will come about... I wish there was an option for ZERO stars. Go to State street Bar and Grill in downtown garland, you will spend a few more dollars, but at least they are honest and pour what...
