Food quality really went downhill. Ordered an XL buffalo chicken pizza, XL cheese pizza, and 6 mild wings on 9/3/25 at 3pm. Both pizzas were stretched way too thin and overcooked. The bottom of the pizza was really dark, as hard as a brick, and was so dry that it was very hard to chew and was practically inedible. My children love pizza, but they refused to eat it, and I ended up throwing it all away. The wings were also not good. The chicken tasted like it may have been made a day or two in advance and they barely put any sauce on the wings. The mild sauce also had a strange taste to it. When Sal first introduced the wings (back at his old location), we tried the mild ones and they were really good, but the ones that we got on our most recent visit at the new location were not good at all. We have been ordering pizza from Sal’s for several years now and on average ordered about once every week for YEARS. Back at their old location we NEVER had any issues with the food and would always recommend Sal’s to our friends and family. Ever since they moved to the new location and have different people making the food now, the quality has really gone downhill. I don’t own a pizza shop and am not an expert at making pizza, but I do know that stretching pizza dough to almost paper thin and then overcooking it to where it is extremely hard and dried out is not going to make for an appetizing experience. I don’t like to complain, but the food was so bad that I had to call and request a refund since I had to throw it away and it cost me over $40. I called to voice my concerns and request a refund, and the guy I spoke with was in denial that the food could be that bad and told me that they would have to call me back because they were really busy. Too busy to promptly address the concerns of a paying customer who had a bad experience? I almost couldn’t believe it. Later on I get another call from someone else who asked me about the food again. I explained the same thing to this other person, and he said they would have to speak with Sal about it and get back to me. Here it is the next day, and I have not heard back from anyone. We are out $40 for food that was inedible and had to be thrown away. This has not been a good experience at all. We have been faithful and regular customers of Sal’s for many years, but based upon this most recent visit and their failure to make things right, we may never order from Sal’s ever again. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and we certainly don’t like throwing money away ordering food that...
Read moreI discovered Salvatore's two months ago but until this time only stopped for a slice or two for lunch. It's on the way to a few businesses I regularly patronize and getting a whole pie that I wouldn't get to for a few hours never made sense.
But. This time was different and I got Sal's XL (16") cheese pizza for $9.99 ($10.59 with tax) special.
I didn't order ahead and was told it would be a 20 minute wait on this Saturday evening (6:25pm). I was OK with that but then Sal said it would be 10 minutes as I guess he had a pie already baking he was going to use for slices. Cool.
In the 10 minutes I waited, five customers came in...4 picked up multiple pie orders they phoned in, and one came in for a slice and a soda. Brisk business that will tell you Sal makes a good pizza. And he does.
After I picked up the pizza, my sister invited me to have dinner with her family and I accepted, but it wouldn't be until 90 minutes later. There was no way I was going to wait 90 minutes to eat SOMETHING when I could smell piping hot pizza coming from the corrugated cardboard pizza box on passenger seat.
So...once I got home I ate one slice of my desired size (I asked for an uncut pie), and packaged the rest in large Ziploc bags for storage. (Don't store leftover pizza in the box. Refrigerators not only chill, but also dehydrate and your pizza could get really dry overnight.
Sal's makes what I consider to be New York style pie with a thin crispy crust and chewy dough and the cheese pie is tasty as is and a perfect canvas to add toppings you chose at home for a same day or next day reheat.
Since I never eat a whole pie at on sitting since college days, how a pizza reheats the next day is an important factor when selecting a shop. The next day was the first time I reheated Sal's. And It did not disappoint. The crust crisped up again and the pepperoni I added really added to the flavor.
Salvatore's is pretty much a carryout and delivery shop. There is a single 2-person table in the waiting space...but that's it.
I highly recommend Sal's and will certainly make a special trip to that side of town to pick up multiple pies for future meals with my sister's family.
If you haven't tried Salvatore's ...do so. You will be...
Read moreI was so hungry and in a hurry, I drove passed Salvatore's Pizza, and observed 4 people eating pizza at a picnic table. I stopped and asked if they sell pizza by the slice and they said yes and told me they all ordered 2 slices of pizza with soda for like $3.50 (I believe the price is correct). Anyway I quickly pulled in and asked for the 2 slices that appeared to have extra sauce on them. The lady asked if I wanted extra sauce and I excitedly stated Yes! Omg the pizza had a soft, yet very crispy bottom (which is a must for me) and the best sauce I have ever had on a pizza! This was my first time here and am going back today! The slices are HUGE! The prices for whole pizzas are cheap! I am posting their hours so you can arrange to go there! I promise, you will not be disappointed! I ate my pizza so fast, I almost made myself sick (Hahaha). I just couldn't help myself the pizza what that good! I thought to myself how did I miss this treasure? Well, I will never miss a time going there! I recommend Salvatore's Pizza to everyone, you will NOT be...
