Former Server here, with nothing but amazing things to say about it all. The owners, the staff, the food, the customers!
I am just so, so happy to see the owners still succeeding at running this local hidden gem!
I was a server here in 2018 and had previously served at several other restaurants in and around Howell. I would like to say adamantly that to this day, in 2023, I have yet to have worked at a restaurant that cared for me in the way the owners and the rest of the staff did.
At the time, I was a young adult trying to manage talking care of my disabled father and children. His need for my care would ultimately be the reason for parting ways, amicably, and I still remember the night that the wife and owner offered to drive me home when my ride fell through.
It's a really wonderful place to work and all who are there seamlessly take you in as one of their own, as family. They look out for you and they care for your well being.
The owners are a lovely couple, the husband manages the work and the crew back in the kitchen and the wife handles us ladies up front. They recognize the value of helping you become a rockstar at what you do and I felt and still feel very blessed to have had the experience working there that I did.
The regulars are lovely and so eager to take you in as well. All other serving jobs in town were left with distaste and disdain, typically severing the employment relationship in a very unprofessional way. I think even now in 2023 after all these years, they would happily accept my help on the staff if all fell into place for it to be. The servers there stay for years for a reason. They are loved, they are valued and they are appreciated for making the restaurant the special, quaint place that it is.
I just noticed that they were able to revamp the inside since I was in there last and it just looks beautiful. SO SO SOOOO HAPPY for you guys! You deserve...
Read moreWaitstaff is very warming and charming.. as always in life .. there is always that one that isnt so kind .. but our wait staff was on time and kind and remembers to REFILL THE COFFEE . The soup 🍲 potato and bacon didn't taste like a mental spoon . Delighted. I usually don't eat much soup so I appreciate the good cup. That is all I had . Portions are good, especially IF you get the 3 egg omelets and hash.. and make sure to bring at a minimum 25.00 .. times are changing, but this one was worth it. It's not a big place, mirrors everywhere and the bathroom was clean and that is always a plus . Either way stay about 30/45 minutes In the booth and get moving the girls and guys need to be able to make tips and get people in and out to do so. Now if you decide you like staying 2hrs at a table 😉 then TIP APPROPRIATELY.. AND ALL IS WELL. Nice place and there is a store for liquor and beer and goodies . I don't drink alcohol but I'm just letting you know there is the availability to do so if the need , also there is a old trolley train that serves as a ice cream station , also in the same parking lot . And just next to this location is a Walgreens and CVS and a aldis food center all are in walking 🚶♂️ 😋 distance from your car and there is a street light at the corner for safety. And hey 👋 by the way the department of Human services for help In insurance or food card or shelter locations it's accessible from the restaurant 😀 AND better to drive . TO ALL HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND A WONDERFUL TIME WITH FRIENDS AND...
Read moreFood was not great and the service was terrible. The hashbrowns were undercooked and cold, we asked for extra toast 3 times and never got it but got charged $1.29 for it. We waited 12 minutes for our waitress Nancy to come back for a refill. I had great expectations coming in here and was let down. We were there Thursday April 4th at 10:30am and the place was mostly empty so it's not like it was terribly busy that would explain the service issues. All in all we will not be back, there are too many other options for quality breakfast in Howell to deal with this again. The orange juice was watered down and warm. We have been done eating and sitting here for over 15 minutes waiting for our bill so we can leave but once again the waitress is nowhere to be seen. When we finally got the bill it was all scribbled and illegible. Don't waste your time and money here, go to Brunners, or any of the half dozen coney islands in town. Nancy is a terrible waitress and the food is...
