Shaka Cafe — Restaurant in Howell

I really really want to be able to leave a higher rating, but after months of coming here I just can't do it. Bowls are great. I've only ever had one that wasn't good, and it was the bottom of the bucket for the acai base-so totally not on them. Unfortunately I can't say much positive about other items I've purchased. On multiple occasions (at LEAST 4), I have ordered protein shakes that come back to me full of giant chunks of ice. They're not blended very well at all. Or the girls will dump all of the blended part into one cup, and then PLOP the rest of what's in the blender into the 2nd cup. Very clearly it is not blended when this happens. I have ordered multiple smoothies and they are never smooth. Same problem, lots of large ice. I ordered a smoothie with ginger in it, as did a lady before me, and neither one of us could drink our smoothies because the ginger was SO STRONG. It was insane, we were literally choking on the ginger. I have been in multiple times where I am the only customer or there will only be one person ahead of me, and it takes 20 minutes to make a bowl. I've ordered online, shown up AFTER the time it should've been finished and still had to wait 30 minutes.

I want to love it here so bad. The people are always super kind, the atmosphere is great, the store is beautiful!! But the lack of consistency mixed with high prices (the prices would be ok if the quality was better) and workers that move slowly just make it not really worth it.

I hope they improve and last a really long time here. This town...

Shaka is an absolute gem. We tried it once and were instantly obsessed with it, even my husband who was very hesitant, started requesting it all of the time. There are so many options and you can't go wrong with any of them. The smoothie bowls are filling enough for dinner and the toasts are big enough for a meal. The ingredients are super fresh and the fruit is always fresh and top notch.

But what really stands out to me about Shaka is their customer service. Every time we go in the workers are super helpful and friendly. I order online often and the last time my order was incorrect, which usually wouldn't be enough for me to reach out, but it included an ingredient that I have an allergy to. Unfortuantely I didn't notice until I got home and couldn't do much about it except reach out to management via email. Not only did Thinh get back with me super quick about the situation but went absolutely above and beyond to make things right with me, and also informed me that they used this as a moment to retrain staff on the necessity of reading orders carefully (which is really all I was hoping for).

We love this place so much and are so happy to have...

Stopped in to give them a second chance thinking things might have changed. The first time i stopped in was around when they first opened I stopped in to see what products they had and I had questions about different things. I wasnt greeted after 5 minutes of being the only one in there reading the signs clearly confused as to what a must try item was that will keep me coming back for more.

Today I stopped by because i was wanting a quick somewhat "healthy" treat, not sure the health bennefits bexause they staff yet again didnt greet me within my time of being there. There was one customer in which they were helping so I figured not to crowd around the order here sign and walk over to read the menu board to figue out what i want. As soon as the girl was done helping the customer i moved over near the order here sign awkwardly waiting, around a minute, for the cashier to ackwoledge my presnce giving her space to finish up with the previous transaction.
