This is a painful one to leave and I’d love to change it back to 5 stars in the future.
Austin’s was one of our favvvv lunch spots for the past couple years. The only burrito spot we’d go. Almost always, it felt like the $20 burritos were worth the price. Only once in a while would we receive considerably smaller burritos, generally only after new staff was hired and it didn’t seem like they’d been fully trained possibly. But generally, it was like holding a newborn baby in burrito form. Massive, packed well, ingredients not all on one end or the other, so good.
In the last month or two, the burrito sizes have gotten soo much smaller. Not worth the price being charged anymore. My husband always gets carne asada, on one visit, his burrito had NO steak whatsoever! I had to drive back (after having picked up the order and driven home) to get a new burrito. His most recent burrito had 4 bites with steak. For a burrito that ends up being just over $20, that’s really unacceptable. This most recent burrito was also smaller than the normal roadie size, although he ordered a regular size burrito. My burritos always used to last me two meals, I never finished a full burrito in one sitting until a month or so ago. I’ve never been left hungry after eating a burrito until recently either. I should be in borderline pain after eating a whole burrito 😂
Really hoping that portion sizes can get figured out and back to normal so that we can trust getting burritos from...
Read moreReally glad we found this place. After recently moving to the area, I was a bit bummed out to find out that the nearest Chipotle was 20 minutes away. Yesterday my wife and I were eating frozen yogurt next door, and decided to look up reviews for Austin’s. We saw they were good, so we checked out the menu. We were pleasantly surprised that they had burrito bowls.
We ordered a chicken bowl and a steak bowl along with a side of guacamole, side of queso and bag of chips. Everything was really delicious. My wife and I shared bowls so we could see how both proteins tasted. Neither of us could decide which we liked better. The guacamole and queso were also really good.
So today we decided to go back again. My wife got the chicken bowl, and I got the brisket. Let me just say WOW. THE BRISKET IS AMAZING. Really good tender brisket and it was loaded up high. I’m a big eater and I could barely finish my bowl.
The staff both times we went consisted of all young ladies. They were all very pleasant and professional. The restaurant was clean and pretty cool looking.
I’m happy this place is only a few miles from home. I can see us frequenting them once or twice a week. I honestly like them better than Chipotle, although I don’t think the two should be directly compared. Austin’s seems to have more hints of authentic Mexican food than Chipotle does. Being that they both sell burrito bowls though, I can see why...
Read moreI had heard about this place from some folks at work, so I decided to take the fam up for a rainy day field trip. WELL worth the drive from Lawrenceville! We all had the steak, so I can’t comment on the other items (in this review anyways) on the menu.
The steak bowl was incredible. Selected the ingredients - I love that they offer fresh cilantro...other burrito bowl locations do not. Speaking of fresh, ALL the ingredients we were served were fresh. The steak was literally right off the grill, hot and fall apart tender - not steak cubes that have been sitting in a bin since last nights shift. Amazing!
Let’s talk about the chips. Chips, are not all created equal. Theirs are light, thin and equally as fresh. Hot right out of the chip making machine...whatever a chip making machine is :). Some of them were seasoned, I liked the ones that had less seasoning on them. That may be an option I could have asked for and likely will next time. But they were great. Wish I had opted for the guac to try them on.
I’d give em 6 stars if I could! Great job guys, keep up the great work and we will...
