It's a fun place to hang out.
If you know my reviews you'll know I never give 5stars unless it's absolutely perfect which is hard to attain. People don't pay attention to their surroundings nor do they give detailed reviews to justify their rating which means they don't really care to take the time to actually put in effort to make this world a better place. The world will not change one iota without extreme considerations of courage!
I'm only using Mallory's Cafe as a comparison because I like both places equally.
Like Mallory's Cafe, it's crowded on 2 points. A lot of ppl, many tables. Hardly any space to walk so be careful you don't trip over other people's stuff.
I like this place bc it feels like they give you a lot more food than Mallory's Cafe but they (Frederica) use more butter.
Here they feel like a diner. I don't know if it's because of the deli counter or the train overhead or the vinyl tablecloths or what but it's nice. However it was very cold on there. Felt like they had the A/C on (Jan 1st)! Granted, I may have sat outside to eat there but if I sat outside then that's a choice I made to sit in the cold. When I sit inside I prefer it to be a decent temp. They don't have outside seating, by the way.
I feel like it's location doesn't do it justice. It's a tad hard to get to or park unless you ride your bicycle (which is preferred among locals!).
They are cleaner than Mallory's is. But Mallory's has a great guy that works there that's right on top notch of his breed as a waiter & a gentleman! He's funny & polite, too!
Food portions are good. Service is decent (1st time there). Food is good but cold, overcooked a tad with lots of butter.
It reminds me of going to diners with my grandparents. Nostalgia aside, I like Mallory's better. I love the fact they advertise how involved they are with community & how they support it by placing artist's work on their facility.
Thanks for the visit, Frederica!...
Read moreGreat for Brunch! We were looking for a great brunch spot in the St. Simon’s area, and this is definitely it! The menu had all of the normal breakfast classics, plus a few lunch items, all of which were reasonably priced. The only thing I believe was very overpriced was their drinks. $4 for any of their juices and milks with NO REFILLS. And $3.50 for their normal drinks. Very steep prices for drinks in my opinion. However, other than that, the food was VERY GOOD. I recommend the stuffed blueberry French toast, and the corn beef hash! Both were satisfying and tasted freshly made. The portions were perfect, as I did not get stuffed, but was not left hungry. Another great option would be the Eggs Benedict. My friend ordered those and they looked great. The staff was great, but there was not enough of them, so I was only offered one refill throughout the whole meal. Another slight downside is that it is extremely small inside, with not too many seats. If you have a big group, this is not the place for you. It has a small breakfast cafe feel, as it should. The parking options are also very slim. There are not too many spots and Sunday afternoons are very busy here.
Overall, really good experience! I would have given it 5 stars if there were more staff to wait on us, if the orange juice was cheaper, and if the place had more seating and parking. However, 4 stars is really good! I would definitely come back here for brunch! (With a...
Read moreFirst the good. This place has great food, and the staff was friendly. I got the eggs benedict and they were on point.
Second, the bad. This will seem a little petty, but it made me upset, so take it for what it's worth. I had originally ordered the crab cake benedict, but they brought me the regular. As we were hungry, and I like regular anyhow, I just mentioned it (as to not get charged the extra $3) and said I was fine with it. She apologized and offered a crab cake on the side, and since that was what I had initially wanted, I said sure. The bad part is that they ended up charging me for the crab cake which was $4. So I could have made them redo 2 crab benedict, wasted the original and been charged less. Again, we are talking one dollar difference, not a big deal. To me it was the lack of thought process in trying to make the customer feel good about their experience, and that $1 more and one less crab cake had me feeling like I gotten short end of the stick.
I actually wanted to leave a lower star review, but in all reality, this place was...
