Sadly I chose not to order, so I can’t leave a review on the food etc
I called this afternoon as I am now finished with sessions and craving pizza (I was going to drive from East Savannah to South 17 for this) I was asked to hold, I said ok and waited patiently for about 4-5 minutes. The lady comes back and answers my two questions and I decided to place a pickup order for 1 medium pepperoni. She apologizes saying, “I know I had you on hold already but I’m extremely busy and have to place you back on hold before I can ring this up.” I said ok.
I waited but I had a call come in within that time period that I had to take (I am a small business owner) so my thought process is, take the call & let it hang up, I will call costanzo’s back, no biggie. If I had put her on hold to take the call, she’d come back to silence and figured I’d hung up anyway. So I take the call & let it drop costanzo’s call in the process….
While I’m on the phone with my client the lady calls me back! I swap over to answer and she asks, “did you hang up on me because I put you back on hold?” — I proceeded with, “No… I had a call come in I needed to accept… (not that I should have to explain myself to a pizza shop or anyone else)
She says, “oh ok because I didn’t understand why you would hang up just because I put you on hold. I am the only one here working and it’s very busy. I had to handle this stuff before I could put in your order to get payment in to make sure you’re going to pickup what you order. Do you still want to order?”
I said, “after this? No ma’am, not now.” Her voice was showing she was frustrated and on the defensive with me and explaining why she called my number back.
I absolutely was not going to order with this type of behavior… I’m still in shock how unprofessional this was handled.
And if she was truly the /only/ person working a whole pie shop…
The others who dined here and had a pleasurable experience, I envy them.
Not only was the pizza terrible (further detail below), but when I called to complain, the manager Courtney was extremely rude. She did not value me as a customer or my desire to return. Perhaps because she is not the owner, she had a disinterest in customer service and loyalty, but in my opinion that should be important to everyone from top to bottom. When I expressed my displeasure in the pizza, hoping she would at least suggest another redeeming quality or menu item that would encourage me to return, she said they have plenty of other good reviews, said a disingenuous "have a blessed day", then hung up. So of course I am now sharing my poor experience.
If you have the misfortune of addressing an issue with Courtney, beware. I did call back to seek contact with the owner. However, I have to rely on her to forward my information to him, because she refused to give me any form of contact. So who knows if that message will actually be delivered.
Back to the pizza, I wish I could upload a photo. The crust is chewy as others described (too chewy) but the real problem is how overcooked the toppings are. My red peppers were literally black. My banana peppers were comparable to chewing balled up pieces of paper. I mistakenly got an extra large and have been trying to force myself to eat the pizza for the past couple days (since I've already paid for it) but I just can't. There is an almost-whole pizza in here worth $17 uneaten and wasted.
If you want to take a gamble on Costanzo's, go for it. Maybe you will have the good fortune of the "more relevant" reviews posted. OR you will be treated poorly and suffer through mediocre pizza,...
Read moreI moved to the area about 7 months ago and have been in here 3 or 4 times. I really like their pizza. Note - I like a thin or hand tossed crust.
Never had issues until Monday 5/25. Ordered large supreme - sub hamburger for sausage - they had done it on all the others before - no charge / no problem.
I know covid-19 so its take out only. Said 25 min so I leave and come back. Pizza is ready as promised. Here is the issue (customer service)
I am told - sorry We don't have sausage for your supreme. I answer - It was suppose to be hamburger.
Remember - You pay at time of order and can not sit inside - and they did not take my phone number
(Issue1 - order was not right)
After going back and forth about sausage being on the supreme and not hamburger and the special order I am told they have no hamburger.
My question - did you put anything extra on the pizza - Answer - no.
(Issue 2 - If you didn't give me what I ordered and you didn't tell me at the time I ordered, don't you think I should get something to compensate for what I paid for. Not asking for a pizza - asking that you do business right - it's a $20 pizza)
So the young lady tries to call someone and can't reach them. Ask that I leave a name and phone number and someone will call me.
(issue 3 - It is Wednesday morning at 945 - 39 hours later and no call.
You get a 2 star review because you failed on 3 customer service issues in one visit.
I try to support our local businesses - but try and take care of the customers who keep you...
