My daughter and I ubered to your restaurant the night of Cinco de Mayo. We planned to have some drinks and didn’t want to drink and drive. We have lived in this area for over 20 years, and have dined at Del Rio numerous times, as well as placing many delivery orders.
We knew it would be busy, but I wanted to take my daughter out to celebrate the end of her college semester. We put our name on the wait list, and I sat in the one seat left at the bar while she stood behind me. She’s a bartender, and we saw how busy they were behind the bar, so we were patient.
After 10 minutes or so, I noticed the bartenders were taking orders of customers that had come up behind me. I tried to get the attention of one male bartender, and he said something I didn’t understand, but I think he was just making drinks for the customers at the tables. That’s fair. There were also two women behind the bar, neither that ever made eye contact with me or acknowledged me in any way for 40 minutes! From time to time, I saw another woman behind the bar, and I got her attention, but she told me that wasn’t her section.
There was a gentleman sitting next to me that had obviously been there for a while because he had 3 drink cups stacked up along with an empty bucket. In desperation, I asked him if he could help me get the attention of one of the bartenders. He tried. The one bartender that walked around the entire time with a credit card clenched in her teeth said she would come back, but she never did.
It was like I was invisible, and I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life, including at the busiest bars in Atlanta! It was incredibly insulting! My daughter and I took another Uber to a different restaurant where the bartender took our order, and though she was busy, kept up with us. I waited tables when I was in nursing school, and both of my adult kids are servers/bartenders. We all tip very well, and our bartender tonight got 50%.
I’m appalled at the way I was treated at Del...
Read moreThis was my first time here. I drive by it all the time and it's always packed so I figured I'd see what the rave was all about. I was truly disappointed. My daughter and I got there around 2:40 and all the hostesses and wait staff were just sitting around in the booths by the door talking and blatantly ignoring us. They all kept calling each other's names as to try to pass us off to the next, like I don't speak Spanish myself. It took them 4 minutes to acknowledge my daughter and I and greet us and get us seated. The hostess asked if we wanted a menu or the buffet, didn't know they had a buffet so we went for that. It took them 15 minutes to come to our table to ask us if we want a drink (like who doesn't drink with their meal?). We got up to go to the buffet and what I saw was unacceptable. All the food was overcooked, burned, and dried out. I took 3 items that didn't seem burned or dry. By the time I got up to get a 2nd plate, half of the buffet was gone, they were cleaning up. The hostess failed to mention that the buffet would be over soon. Why would you offer someone the buffet option 20 minutes before it's done with? And not even bother to mention that? She knew I didn't know because I mentioned to her that this was our first time here. So my daughter and I got 1 plate of food, she had popcorn shrimp and onion rings, I had some shredded chicken and half a fried steak with gravy. Needless to say, after we left, I had to go elsewhere and spend more money on food because our appetites weren't satisfied. Then I see the manager making his rounds and talking to the guests but only the regulars though, if he doesn't recognize you, you're not worth his time apparently. I've worked in the food business as a general manager and a regional manager in Alpharetta, and what I experienced here today literally left me with my jaw on the floor. I've received better service from Burger King. This was my first time here and it...
Read morei often visit when i’m really hungry, but the more I visit, the more it gets worse. as soon as i’m seated it takes almost 5-10 minutes to get noticed and be served, they always apologize and i am very understanding and reassuring that it’s ok cuz i once was a server too so i understand completely. It just kills my mood to even eat here because of how forgetful the servers are. Today definitely just made it my last because i am very much over the service here. I came in around 7:20ish, I wasn’t noticed till 5 minuets passed, after I was noticed it took another 5 minutes to get my drink and chips, after receiving my drink I let my server know I was ready to order and she said she would be right back and that she needed to drop off a check and I said it was completely fine. After that, 20 minuets passed and there was no sign of my server until she finally appeared and she took my order, it also doesn’t help that my food took about 30 minuets to get to me, at that point I was ready to leave but I didn’t and thought let me still wait cause i understand it’s Friday and things do get hectic but there was no reason for just one plate to take that long, it’s a simple dish too. Anyways after eating and trying to enjoy my meal my server comes by not to me but the table across from me and getting way better service than I was and constantly getting checked on. After I was done with my meal I was ready to pay and I let her know, when I did she went to get my check and again took 15 minuets to come back. I gave a tip because I’ll always tip servers because it’s their form of income but she very much did not deserve it because her focus was the table across from me. I’ve never done a negative review before but today ended up being the day and unfortunately I will not come back. Please do better with time management and have servers who are willing to actually...
