Heard good things about this place to eat so we tried it out for the first time. Place looks great outside and in, great atmosphere and even a fireplace going inside close to tables. Decor is nice, eating inside or outside on the porch if the weather is nice. Fire pits and seating outside for the cool nights was a nice touch. When we sat down, the table was still damp from being wiped down so the menus stuck when they laid them down. Unrolled the silverware and the knife had dried food on it, not a good start. Server was polite and took our drink order, came back shortly and took the appetizer order. Not a very big menu selection to choose from but enough variety that most people should be pleased. Shortly later, the server returned and got entree order and we only had to wait a short while for the app to come out. Less than two minutes later the entrees came out, so staging wasn't very good at that point. After those few mishaps, the food came out and was actually the highlight and the best part of the experience. I had the fish and chips and honestly, they have some of the best fries I've ever had anywhere, better than even homemade in my opinion. Seemed to be hand cut and their special blend of seasoning and cooked perfectly. My fish fillets were also delicious and perfectly breaded. My wife had the Asian style blackened chicken bowl and she said it was quite delicious as well. Their ranch dressing tasted homemade as well as their remoulade sauce which was perfect on the fish. Our server never came back to refill our glasses, it wasn't too busy but they sometimes forget. We didn't have room for dessert but I remember the menu offered two choices, a key lime pie and a chocolate pie. They had a specialty cocktail list and a full bar so drinkers should have no problem getting their fill. Even with the couple of shortcomings, it was a pleasant experience and I would go back and recommend it to others.

This restaurant came highly recommended on our visit to St Simons Island. We had been trying a lot of the local restaurants and decided to try this particular seafood restaurant that was not on the beach but rather on a marshy area about a block away from the beach. Our first impressions were a little sketchy but we are glad we did not rely on them. The parking lot was a simple gravel parking lot and when you walked towards the front door, the first thing you saw was there rather unattractive loading dock. Once you got to the front door however, the decor and general atmosphere changed drastically. We were immediately seated right by the large picture window that overlooked the marsh and we were impressed with the atmosphere, the nice soft lighting, and the overall vibe that this restaurant was giving. The interior had a lodge feel with large stained Rafters that were visible on the vaulted ceilings and the large outdoor dining area. Our server was very accommodating and gave good honest recommendations based on what we liked.. even giving me a sample of a beer that I was slightly on the fence about. Are appetizer which was fried green tomatoes was presented in a beautiful Manner and it tasted as good as it looked. The beer was ice cold and my wife's Margarita was mixed just right. Our entrees showed up in a nice amount of time and we were pleased with how the food tasted and how it was presented. Overall, we like this restaurant very much and we would definitely recommend it to anybody visiting St Simons island. I would say that the only drawback is that the food is a bit pricey here and because so much of it is seafood, you deal with the market pricing on things. Otherwise it was a great experience and we believe that it was worth the cost.

I apologize again for pictures of half eaten food! I frequently forget that I want to do a review when we are hungry. Nice seafood restaurant that worked well for us! Food was fresh and generally very good (with one exception, noted later). I added some notes later as suggestions. Our group of 5 adults and 2 young children were seated quickly at 6ish on a Saturday night but there was a wait when we left. It is undoubtedly busier during the Summer season but was perfect the second week after Labor Day. Prices were a little high, but in the range found at most vacation destinations. Parking was free but tight around the restaurant. We had: - Two shrimp baskets with fries, proclaimed damn good by my son, and merely good by another adult. - Fried oyster basket with slaw and two hush puppies. - Fiddler bowl with scallops - Fiddler bowl with blackened shrimp Notes: The slaw was simple but a nice balance of sweet and tang. The hush puppies were the biggest disappointment, primarily because they were extremely dry! Oysters were good, but were a little small and could benefit from a little more seasoning. The “lightly blackened” shrimp could be even less blackened because it overwhelmed the scallops. Ironically they offer a small amount of wasabi on the side of the soy reduction which I loved, and I used just a tiny bit to tweak the flavor over the pepper. The two Fiddler bowls came with coconut rice, my daughter and I preferred more coconut taste to our rice, but we can understand if the chef wants to make it appeal to a broader group of diners. Mac n cheese and cheesy bread sides were reasonable.

Went to Fiddlers during and short vacation to St Simon's. Waited over an hour for a table or what I thought would be a table. Very busy restaurant and seems very popular with the locals. Found it pretty difficult to order a drink at the bar while we waited. Bar staff don't really look up much to see if someone wants to order a drink. People squeezing past each other. Likewise finding a seat to wait is not easy to find. Fiddlers has an app which will show you how your wait time is progressing. 45 minute wait actually turned out to be 1hour 25 minutes. There app is not big on accuracy.

Very loud in the restaurant and very crammed. Eventually got a table the servers seat you wherever there is a space. While the views overlooking the March are nice, I would not have waited over an hour to be seated outside at dusk on a bar ledge looking out to the marsh. Feeling crammed in like sardines and fighting off the mosquitoes seemed to be a common theme at Fiddlers. Well I guess this was the unkown trade off with actually being able to find a parking spot outside. With not much room to sit and relax to eat ended up just ordering the fish and chips. My other half had the same with an order of fried green tomatoes 🍅. Fish was good, fries were alright. Hush puppies were just hush puppies. Fried green tomatoes did not get a very good score above just being average.

What baffles me is when you go into an actual restaurant and order fish and chips. Why they serve this dish in a basket and on paper. Fiddlers prices at not inexpensive. If I want fish and chips served in a basket on paper I would find my way to a food truck, not a restaurant. Serve it on a plate please. You might not know this Fiddlers, but when you add ketchup, tartar sauce and God forbid some vinegar to your fish. The paper disintegrates pretty quickly. This may have the effect of presentation being cute but does not make for a enjoyable eating experience.

Overall pretty disappointing experience at...

Tonight, my wife and I came in with our daughter to celebrate her second birthday. We asked for a table outside, the hostesses said 30 minutes. Which was completely fine. Went and grab a drink at the bar to wait. Not even 5 mins later, didn’t even get our drinks yet, got buzzed that a table was ready. The table was inside, right by the kitchen. We let the hostess know that we had asked for outside and we don’t mind waiting still at that point. A guy with an apron trying to manage the hostess said to me “I know your mad” which is not true, we didn’t mind waiting. They told us at that point that they had a big party and didn’t know if we could sit outside….. okay? Two seconds later they have a table for us. This is all within 10 mins when we were expecting to wait 30. Again okay with waiting. We are the most understanding people when it come to restaurant since we have started multiple on our own. But as soon as we sat down. The looks these people were giving us made us completely uncomfortable so we decided to leave. I never right reviews good or bad. But this experience gave me a not so great feeling. When I tried to explain to the guy with an apron that we are the two people to get it. He dismissed us that we didn’t understand. It’s sad to see a restaurant with a great food and drink menu have ill trained staff as your first person you see. And for hostesses to not know wait times. It to bad we couldn’t eat because they made us so uncomfortable on our daughters second birthday. At that point went to another restaurant and couldn’t eat there because we only had a certain window of a calm two year old. Again, we are the two most understanding people. But you tell us 30 minutes and it’s actually less then 5 . Something’s not...
