Showed up early, just after 7, for a Sunday outdoor reservation & were seated immediately, 1 of only 2 good things that happened during our very long visit. There were multiple empty tables when we arrived, at no point were all tables filled, & very few customers were indoors. Once seated, our waitress greeted us, delivered glasses of water & took our drink orders in a reasonable time. As she delivered our drinks: sodas, beers, & wine, she informed us of the specials - low country boil as the entree & baked beans & Cole slaw as the sides (odd pairings with entree costs of $25-30). She advised Mahi was the catch of the day but did not know the market price for it. As we joked with her for saying '20, 30 dollars ', a passing waiter overheard & was able to provide us with that answer. She also advised that 3 menu items had already sold out for the evening. She didn't inquire about appetizers, but gave excess time (15 minutes) to decide our meals. We placed our orders when she finally returned, discovering other items had sold out during our wait, & talked while we waited. 35 minutes into our wait salads arrived for those who had ordered them, they were tasty & gave us hope for a great meal. We watched a nearby table get seated, receive drinks, place orders, AND receive meals, before anyone at our table received a refill on long since emptied beer glasses or watered down & weather warmed soda. An hour into our wait, our conversation lagged, & after our near neighbors, who arrived after we ordered, received their meals, we flagged down our waitress, who advised due to the holiday (Memorial Day) they were very short staffed in the kitchen & that she'd been helping out in it; but, she would call down to see how much longer it would be. She offered to refill my soda, but we had to call her, as she walked away, for refills on beer. She never offered or provided a refill for the person with wine, of wine or water. When our meals arrived with drastically different temperatures, those with cold food didn't want to complain & risk it taking another hour to get a replacement. 4 orders: 1- the catch of the day, Mahi Mahi, blackened, to a customer who choose the sides of the day as her other choices had previously sold out. She, said the fish had no flavor, & questioned if it had even been seasoned worth the correct seasoning, the Cole slaw was ok, not anything special, and the baked beans were clearly ungarnished, unaltered, canned baked beans. The food arrived warm but not hot. 2- the crab cakes with asparagus and a salad as her first choices had also already sold out for the evening. Her salad was tasty, spinach, almonds, etc; & had given hope for a nice meal when it arrived much much earlier. The crab cakes were tasty; but, the mango salsa that was to accompany them was not present. The dinner waited until her meal was beginning to chill then began eating without it, by the time it arrived, she had finished her side & had slightly less than one cake left, which worked out a the salsa was delivered in a half filed 2oz plastic condiment cup. The food arrived warm but not hot. 3- grilled shrimp, asparagus, & salad. Fairly basic house salad. The grilled shrimp were not local (a crime to not serve local shrimp in a shrimping community, especially at the prices), & were nearly cold, as was the asparagus. The shrimp were odd in that some were peeled but for the tail & some weren't peeled at all. Both were bland, unseasoned, & a huge disappointment for the one who had ordered them, thinking to get local wild caught shrimp. The plate & portion size disappointed. 4- the Cioppini. This was the ONLY meal that arrived hot. It was also the only meal that was as tasty as one would expect from such a restaurant. Pasta with red sauce, mussels, calimari, shrimp, etc. It was more than enough food for 1 very hungry person. Starving, we quickly ate our food. We'd wanted dessert, but didn't want to spend another hour there. Total...
Read moreStay Away until all issues are fixed. The assistant manager has been made aware of this review. The restaurant accepted our reservation for 12 on the 4th of July to celebrate a milestone birthday.
We arrived and the table was ready for our group to have a great evening that started 7:45 pm. Water was provided and after the reminder of needing a drink menu our order was taken. Waiting on drinks we finally learned that the two new bartenders they hired quit and walked out the door on their 1st night. Staff made us aware and we accommodated and changed our drinks and ordered 5 bottles of wine. This should be easy for them to provide. Not at all - members of our party had to help. We had to collect the wine from the bar and carry it out to the table along with glasses and open our own bottles to pour. We are a friendly group and always like to help when things go wrong last minute. However, this should have been our message to leave.
Enjoying our first glass of wine. We decided it was time to order food. No menu to be found or provided by staff. We request the menus and wait. No menu arrives. We must collect on our own. My wonderful brother takes our order and provides it to the waitress. Once again we knew we should have left.
The fireworks from this location was wonderful. You could see so many different areas that had shows this evening by moving around the patio.
Our evening progresses and finally at 10:15 the chicken parm for five people arrive at the table. This is the only food that arrives at our table. Reminder we have 12. We know you should sit and wait for other meals to come out to eat, however nothing arrives. The chicken parm eaters start their meal we learn it is too spicy and cold and the pasta was a combination of spegetti and linguine.
Halfway through the Chicken Parm salads arrive. I myself ordered the Caesar along with a Ribeye. Only three salads were ordered. Still leaving over half our guest waiting for food. Finally, after some time steaks arrive, seafood pasta, pulled pork on potato and we dig in. And then we realize My niece is still waiting for her chicken wings.
My steak arrived cold, mashed potatoes were cold and broccoli was frozen cooked to cold.
Wings arrive to the table. They are hot and delicious. I suggest you order the wings if you do go but stay awake from everything else.
Finishing our plates of food. The waitress shows up and says here's the fries you ordered 45 minutes later.
We finish and wait for our bill. I asked for the manager to visit our table. Watched our waitress run around to find a woman to visit us and hear our complaints and that's all she did was listen.
We paid our bill tipped our waitress and reminded them of this Google will be written. I suggest to the management team you get your house in order. This was above the and beyond poor service. Shut your doors and learn how to run a business. You have an excellent location but with poor management and staff you will...
Read moreOverpriced food and alcohol, bad food, terrible drinks, disappointing service. Let me preface this with: I rarely leave bad reviews and I’m not hard to please - seriously, go look at my other reviews. We had quite an unpleasant experience at the rooftop at ocean lodge....would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Upon arriving, there was no hostess and they seemed confused why we were there (we had a reservation). Once seated, we noticed a $10 corkage fee for wines and $5 for beers....this alone is ridiculous, but to our amazement, the wine we ordered was brought out and just set on the table...so you pay a corkage fee to open and pour the bottle yourself? But wait, there’s more! We ordered appetizers, then didn’t hear from our waitress until the appetizers came out 20-30 minutes later - how were the appetizers you ask? Cold, like they had been taken out of the fridge and someone forgot to warm them up before serving. At this point, it was starting to get laughable, but we thought maybe it’ll get better, so we ordered drinks....two cosmos, one old fashion, and an ocean lodge tea...all of which came out individually and were worse than a drink at a college bar. They literally tasted like the bartender had never made a drink in their life - which was apparent when the cosmos were brought out individually. If you’re making two of the same drink, you make both at the same time. The cosmos tasted like pure alcohol. The old fashion tasted like it had been sitting out and getting watered down by melting ice for 15 minutes. And the ocean lodge tea? I don’t even know where to begin with that abomination. After that, we asked for the bill and went elsewhere for dinner. Thankfully, the waitress sensed our disappointment and removed some items from our bill - but normally the restaurant automatically adds gratuity to every bill regardless of party size - probably because the service, food, and drinks make you feel like you’re being punished. I would only recommend this restaurant to someone I wanted to spite. They rely on their location/view, and the appearance of being a nice restaurant, but they are basically a trojan horse of...
