Not the best experience either time I've been to this First Watch location. Giving 3 stars because the food IS good, I'm just not incentivized to return when you have A++ service and food across the street at Reveille.
The first visit was on a weekday morning with my friend and made less ideal due to our server's smugness about refilling drinks and bringing specific items requested for the table. While the food was really good (Chorizo omelette for me), his attitude dampened the vibe for us. We felt very strongly that we were on his nerves.
Today's visit, Sunday morning, was also equally interesting due to the wait staff. We were promptly greeted upon being seated. I ordered the coffee, and my husband asked for a coke zero, which was brought out quickly. Once I'd added the cream/sugar to my coffee, I realized that it tasted a bit bitter. Instead of being able to easily flag down our server, we just sat because she was no where to be seen. Our food was brought out by a different server who I had to ask if I could just have a Diet Coke. I realized that the omelette (Chorizo again) was accompanied by a salad, and I did not recall that being the case the first time. When the nice woman, who was not our original server, came back with my DC I told her I thought my omelette came with potatoes, to which she replied, "oh, you have to specify." So, I specified at that point that no, I do not want a plain salad with my omelette. After that our original server reappeared with my potatoes and asked if our food was to our liking. That was the last time we saw her until she dropped off our check. Between the potatoes and the check, my husband had to flag down another server for a refill.
Additionally, I felt like there was very little chorizo in my omelette, and I found a rogue mushroom, which I try very hard to avoid in all food situations. We were also charged for both coffee and the diet coke, which is fine, but if she'd attended our table, I would have told her the coffee was not to my liking and hopefully had the charge removed considering I took maybe 3 sips.
So, two things that I observed here:
Our server, she just planted herself behind the drink area in the kitchen and seemed to busy herself in that spot for long periods of time. There was no opportunity to flag her down because she wasn't spending much time on the floor attending to her tables.
I think the mixup with my side items was due to the fact that our server really didn't ask any follow up questions about how we'd like our food. If I recall, my first server, as smug as he was, gave us options about side items, so we knew we had options beyond the mixed greens.
Again, it's hard to frequent a restaurant where the service has been less than ideal 100% of the time I've gone. I know this has not been the case at other locations because the idea of getting a FW so close to home was very appealing to us. Hopefully your team can work out the kinks, but I'm going to give you some time before...
Read moreI hate having to write a bad review for this location. Especially because I am a regular and come here very often. When we got there we joined the waitlist and went shopping at the nearby Target until our table was ready. Which is normal. Especially for a Sunday morning. After getting seated our server said she’d be with us in a few minutes. She didn’t take our order until 15 minutes later. Which is fine. After taking our order, which was chia seed pudding, a muffin, bacon, and sausage, we waited FIFTY MINUTES before I was able to get another servers attention. We told her what was going on and she immediately put our order in. Not to mention for the fifty minutes we were just sitting there our server just walked passed us over 10 times without even acknowledging us or acknowledging the fact that we were sitting there without food. After finally receiving only our pudding and muffins (not any of our sides) we asked to speak to the manager. She told us that our meal was on them (as it should be since we wasted over an hour and a half of our time to not even get our complete order). When we went to check out they told us they were ONLY taking 50% off of our order. Even though we didn’t even receive our sides and barely any service. I work in the restaurant business so I try to be as understanding as I possibly can. But I’m incredibly irritated but at that point I didn’t even want to argue so I paid the $30 and I left. Like I said I was a regular and would come in at least once a week or once every two weeks. This location no longer has my service or the rest of my family’s. Extremely disappointing. We have never had a problem before this. I hope they fix whatever has caused them to go...
Read moreThe first time I came to this FW about 2 years ago, I was SUPER disappointed, awful food, bad service, crowded atmosphere. This morning, when I realized it was this one I had plugged into my route, I almost didn’t go in.
I’m so happy I did, because this was a totally different experience.
The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is cute and non-crowded. Love the Pig.
The food was great as well. I got a lox eggs Benedict, which came with a simple side salad of mixed young greens in a lemony dressing. For a drink I got the Blue Booster juice.
The eggs Benedict were of solid quality. The hollandaise was not split, the eggs were poached beautifully, perhaps slightly more done than you’d expect, but I’d prefer that to watery underdone whites. The lox was lox. Can’t screw up smoked fish.
But what was strange was how much of a standout that salad was!!! The lemony dressing, when swiped through the excess hollandaise and yolk, became absolutely addictive. It was a constant palate cleanser that in its refreshing astringency made the eggs Benedict feel more indulgent with each bite. I love a morning salad and have them regularly and this was a fabulous addition.
The juice was nice. Unremarkable but it’s a good fresh juiced blend. The one criticism I have of the entire experience was that they gave me a tragically wilted basil leaf as a garnish. Just a sad little brown piece of foliage. If you can’t find a fresh green thing, maybe leave the garnish off.
All in all I’m so happy that I have found out that this location is en route to my temple, will be coming here before my morning Torah...
