People have low expectations nowadays regarding what they pay for, things like clean dishware, silverware, and coffee mugs. Things like not being nickeled and dimed over various minutiae. Places like this make you say to yourself, it's not the waiter or waitresses' fault its the management or the kitchen. Maybe you've even been a server at some point and therefore epathize to that point.
However there is the matter of communication where the server is a conduit between the guests and the management even if the management is doing their due diligence and checking on tables.
Came in, asked to sit outside to avoid wait. Was told np. Had to ask for menus, went to grab silverware and was told it was out there already, it wasnt. Ok no biggie.
Asked for a mug of hot water, brown plaque residue left behind by coffee could be wiped away by hand with ease. Went inside and asked for another, also dirty. The waitress came back and I asked for another which they had to wipe out to ensure it was clean. This is a big deal.
-Ordered veggie sausage, expo/food runner comes to table and says who had the chicken sausage? I had veggie sausage, same difference they said before placing it in front of me. Actually it isn't, one is made from animal the other from vegetables and I have a problem with cholesterol.
-Finally, the food did not come out together or on time. In terms of quality it was par for course, standard... you can get the same quality anywhere else for that price point.
I come here less and less despite it being walking distance. The staff is primarily composed of friendly people and actually some gorgeous women but in terms of quality It's no Goldberg's and Derek's down on Sandy Plains past Sprayberry HS has better tasting food at better prices (nasty water though). Conclusion? If you're nearby and lazy meh, ok... but if you are looking for the satisfaction of "BREAKFAST" take the time to go out a little further for...
Read moreReally don’t know what to say. I’m confused by how much the food, service, and general vibe seem to have fallen off. It’s gone from “you should definitely go!” to “it’s ok”.
Often when I pick this place over others- it’s for their grits. Today they were luke warm at best. Shreds of cheese completely unmelted. A couple bites in I realized I just wasn’t enjoying it at all. I am not a “send back food” person. Today though I nicely asked if they could please heat up mine and my daughters some more. They brought out entirely new ones- possibly something they are required to do.
I stirred it up as soon as it came in hopes the cheese would melt. Nope, same temperature. Disappointed but resigned I started to eat them. On the second bite in I felt something weird and un-chewable.
After removing it from my mouth I saw that it was an inch of ripped off plastic straw wrapper! I pointed it out and a server took it. A few minutes later a manager came out smiling and explained it was just a straw wrapper. Yes, I know. I showed her our unused straws and that the one used one wasn’t missing anything.
I explained what had happened. She made a face and I said yes- my face did the same thing when I saw it on my spoon. She said she’d take it off our bill- which she did. No other grits came; I never did get more than a few bites. That was less of a loss as they were both varying levels of disappointment. Oh well.
Nothing else was as good as it used to be. The other food was truly mid, the presentation of it was lower. The energy or sparkle wasn’t there at all. The whole vibe was completely off. It seems to have gone from a fun place to have a fancier breakfast with the ladies- to a diner.
I now understand why the last friend i recommended it to was disappointed. I feel a little bad that I did...
Read moreHave gone here for years. Have introduced so many to this place and brought a ton of business. Last time we came would've been one of my friend's first time. My mom and I went in and were asked how many. After telling the host 3, she turned around and went like she was bussing a table for us. We stayed at the stand waiting for her to return. The manager came by, looked right through us and sat the 2 parties behind us. Confused we sat down in the lobby. The manager came back after seating the 2 parties behind us and passive aggressively said "you know we close at 2 right?" I am well aware, but being there at 1pm and knowing the menu like the back of my hand/knowing what I wanted before I even drove there should be plenty of time... Just needed to be seated first. It appears they weren't going to seat us until my friend showed up. Would have been nice to have been communicated that. My mom and I stormed out frustrated, and I saw my friend sitting in the parking lot assuming we weren't there yet. Had we been sat, I would've texted her where we were sitting, and no time would've been wasted. Turned out too she wasn't even feeling well and wasn't even eating, just coming to see my mom and I. So we could've definitely done without the passive aggressiveness from the manager. We haven't been back since. Loyal customers for years that have turned many people on to this place, and not only can they not even tell us why we're not being sat, but be so passive aggressive about closing an hour later on top of it?? Crooked Tree on 41 is amazing guys, check it out! They seat you right away, have a unique selection of locally sourced food, and close at 3, skip...
