We chose Frankie's on Roswell Road to celebrate my fathers' birthday! We have dined here before in the past and have so on numerous occasions.
This past Sunday we had an absolutely awful experience! First off, the positives...our server, Heather, was very polite and accommodating . She was friendly and attentive. That being said...that is unfortunately where the positive ends.
Our salad was brought to our table. We ordered the caeser salad which arrived at our table wilted and brown. When I say it was brown, I mean it was BROWN. Not a few pieces either. A LOT! We asked if she could replace it and she did with a smile on her face. Sadly before we could enjoy our salad, our food arrived. Two young male individuals brought out our entrees. Both wearing old looking(not tucked in) band t-shirts, and messy hair. They gave someone who ordered the chicken parmesan the eggplant parmesan, and vice versa. The food was NOT warm either. Since, as I mentioned we were celebrating my father's birthday, we had purchased a cake and brought it with us to sing Happy Birthday. At the table we were told that there would a fee for us to bring an outside cake in which we were not told on the phone about when we made the reservations originally. At this point, we asked to to speak with the owner. The owner, Kevin, came over to our table and we explained to him about our entire experience. At first he kind of just looked at us in a stare. Soon thereafter, I believe he noticed other patrons could hear us describing our negative experience. He then proceeded to tell us that he would comp our entire table. We didn't want anything for free, although the offer was a nice gesture. We would have been happy to have a discount of some sort. But almost immediately after telling us that, he told our server, Heather, to "come with me." We are pretty sure he scolded her because when she came back to our table we noticed her crying. She was apparently very shaken up about whatever the owner said to her. We made it known to the owner that the server wasn't to blame. Kevin said that it is the server's responsibility to make sure the salads were fresh before serving it to the patrons. Um, who plated that food in the kitchen? Is there someone that preps the food for the evening? Did they not see that? So, the food was brown before it was plated...which means the food was old? Who's fault is that? I can tell you who is at fault for ALL of this...THE OWNER...KEVIN! It's ALL ON YOU! A few years back, we had a bad experience and I approached this SAME man in the back and told him about our experience and he was not responsive at all. What a great trait to have for someone that owns a restaurant. After this awful experience, I can tell you with certainty that we will NOT be...

I think the strategy here is to wait until the dusty 70's decor is old enough to be called vintage. There were some neat old posters though...maybe the strategy is working...
Staff:
Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating - if slightly apologetic.
Cleanliness:
Well, there were giant sheets of paper on the tables over the cloth, so they don't have to change tablecloths between services. I guess maybe they are changed once a day? Grease stains, smoodges etc. under the paper.
Food Quality:
OOOK. So we got garlic rolls, caesar, broccoli ziti and a mannicotti.
The Manicotti wasn't bad at all The broc and ziti was just noodles, broccoli a couple fresh ish tomato chunks and some butter sauce (more on that later), so no too much there, but I guess it is what it is. We dumped a ton of parm on it and it was passable. Caesar salad was definitely generic, but not super bad. Wife didn't like it though. Garlic Rolls. So when I think of garlic rolls I think of rolls with garlic, salt, some butter and maybe some parm right? These had all of that - BUT, they were served in a pool of cloudy butter-like substance haha. As in about 1/2-3/4 inch of the stuff. Just hoping that the cloudiness wasn't starch from the previous diner's rolls and I got fresh grease to go with my garlic roll soup... :|
All in all -
Cheap food; nice staff; some cool posters.
Dated, neglected facilities; garlic roll soup and generic,...
Read moreRecommended by a loyal customer of over 10 years and things started out great. The hostess was very professional and courteous and the gorgonzola and bacon sauce we has as a side with the garlic knots was delicious. However, the gorgonzola main entrees we ordered were very bland with just a cream sauce and no cheese in it at all, when we tried to have them retoss the pasta and add the gorgonzola, our server misunderstood and brought a bland, runny sauce (lower quality from the initial sauce we received in the beginning. He made no attempts to refill out tea or water glasses and after we requested to see the manager, he completely gave up. The manager came to the table upset and very defensive. He even had an attitude as we were explaining the issues we had (even with a friend's seafood dish and so.e items being overcooked), and had the audacity to say "... what do you want me to do to fix this because you keep bringing it up", after we all told him repeatedly that we were not looking to have the meals comped, but wanted him to know what was coming our of the kitchen and issues with the food not being corrected. His idea of "fixing it", was to take 20 dollars of the entire check but never told any one of us, nor did the server. Where the server would have gotten more than a 20 percent tip, his lack of attentiveness left him with a tad over 10...
