My wife and I stopped in for lunch today and she ordered a Reuben sandwich and I ordered the roast beef on rye. One of the two people ahead of us ordered a Reuben as well. They sat down after ordering then we did the same. There were a couple more came in behind us and ordered. After a few minutes the first couple got their food and we're eating. A few more minutes and one of the people behind us was served. Finally 25 minutes after ordering our sandwich came. The lady gave as the excuse that a Reuben sandwich takes longer to make as the bread needs to be toasted. (The guy in front of us obviously had fast toast and my wife got the slow toast!) My roast beef was almost bleeding. Seriously, the meat looked like it was in a package at the meat market. While I do realize that there are some, I say some people who like raw or otherwise uncooked beef, I am not one of them! I didn't see the turkey sent out raw or the ham raw. Do you suppose that you might be able to at least cook the beef to medium. (Not microwaved). The last item is the extremely loud noise. The dining area is like an echo chamber!!!! Try putting something on the walls or ceiling that deadens the sound. I wi try back there in a month or so to see if...
Read moreMy husband and I were so excited to eat here. We used to eat all the time at their old location, Grinds and Glazes. We stopped for lunch. From the moment we entered the Cafe we knew it was not the same as the one we fondly remembered when we lived here 15 years ago. I ordered the chicken salad and my husband ordered the philly cheese steak. Like another reviewer stated we waited 25 minutes before going up and inquiring about our food. About 5-10 minutes later it finally arrived. We were both extremely disappointed. Mine was THE WORST chicken salad I have ever eaten. It tasted like brine, it was SO salty. The Philly was just ok according to my husband. Again like another reviewer stated it was so loud in there it was impossible to carry on a conversation. It felt like a high school cafeteria, noisy ! The pastries did look wonderful, perhaps we'll stop by and get some to take home. Grinds & Glazes was a small cozy cafe run by a husband & wife. It was a place you could go to meet with friends. I have to ask....are there different...
Read moreWhile visiting the area, we picked this place based on such the high ratings, but IT WAS A COMPLETE LETDOWN. Let me tell you the ways this place is OVERRATED. We arrived Friday lunchtime around 1230 and they were all out of soups. Bad inventory management. It was a cold day and we were looking for a nice warm soup and sandwich combo. Not to be. They were also out of chili. The sandwiches were another big letdown. We had the Rueben, which had the worst tasting pastrami, even worse than store bought, and the philly cheesesteak and I promise you, it was MICROWAVED warm. I can tell the difference between microwaved and toasted bread, and this one was turning chewier by the minute. The turkey sandwich was the least offensive based on the fact that it was the most unremarkable of the three, a compliment in this case. The donuts were serviceable, no better than what you get at Dunkin. Overall, this place is average at best based on my experience. Average sandwiches and donuts and bad inventory management. Not worth a...
