I've always liked this place until today, but today, the waitress was very rude during my lunch experience - rude enough for me to write this review. As I waited in the foyer to be seated, the waitress who was cleaning tables in the dining room shouted out an unintelligible question which led me to ask, "What?" She again asked, "How many," and I said, "One." And then she pointed at a booth where I could sit. After seating another family, she asked what I wanted, and I said, "Yellow Curry Chicken." She rudely said, "That's not a lunch item. That is a dinner item." So, I said, "Then I'll have Peppered Chicken." She said condescendingly again, "That's not a lunch item." Although, it had been on their "special of the day" sign as you enter the door many previous times I had eaten there before. So, I went to my third choice of General Tsu's Chicken, and she pointed at the "General Tsu's Chicken" text on the menu and showed me it was on the lunch menu. Well, duh... Then she started hurrying through the other choices, "steamed rice or fried rice?" So, I hurriedly finished ahead of her with, "Hot and Sour Soup and Diet Coke, and I will be ordering a to-go order after I receive my meal."
In the middle of my lunch as she walked close to the table, I tried to get her to stop at the table so I could make the to-go order, and she quickly went over to another table and said she would be back. Then, while placing the second order, the condescending treatment began and was much like the first order. Of course, I didn't know what her problem was. (Over worked, no tips due to attitude, disrespect towards seniors, hates men, hates Americans, whatever). Food servers, restaurant staff, hospitality professionals shouldn't be taking their problems out on their customers. Whatever happened to smiling at the customer and treating them with a modicum of respect? Bottomline, the result of my poor treatment is that I won't be back to the House of Lu for a while. There's another Chinese restaurant right up the road on Mars Hill at Lost Mt. Store rated higher than Lu's. Apparently, they are treating their customers slightly better. I'll give them a try next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food. Note to all restaurant staff workers: Even though I am old and sometimes wear shabby clothes, I am not without funds, let's say, and I usually give up to 50% tips if I'm treated courteously and respectfully in a restaurant. Waiters and waitresses would be wise to treat seniors (all people) better. But now, after this experience, my radar is up higher than ever, and from here on in, I will be cutting back on the tips and the restaurant visits for any rude, condescending treatment I receive from any restaurant...
Read moreI will give them 2 stars because of the history I have with this place. I grew up with family dine-in dinners here. Everyone knew my dad by name because we ate here so often and loved the food. Over the past month or two I have noticed several differences to how they are running the place. The lady who answers the phone is so rude and is honestly the major reason why I will not be supporting this establishment anymore. My Delivery has multiple mistakes and when I called to get it fixed (I even told her I would drive up there and bring the wrong orders in exchange for the food I really ordered) the lady scolded me for not speaking clearly & told me there was nothing she could do but place a new order. The food has gone down hill; the quality has decreased. Sesame chicken tasted like sweet and sour chicken & was not fried enough because I bit into a couple chunks of flour (I think). Fried rice is bland and dishes throughout the menu are sub par. They must have a new staff in the front of the house and the back because it’s hard to believe a place I loved and enjoyed so much has turned into such an ugly establishment. We won’t be ordering from...
Read moreThe food here is very good and convenient, there are two ladies and I’m not for sure if she is the owner and there is a younger young lady, but there attitude is horrible. They cut you off before you can finish what you’re saying. They are very rude on the phone. The youngest female that works up front is very rude. No thank you quickly repeats your order with an attitude. Doesn’t let you get all your information out and if she listens, she could get things correct the first go round. Again good food but two of the ladies need to adjust their behavior. A little patience and kindness goes a long way in this type of business. I would usually take my business elsewhere because I’m one that will spend my money where it’s not appreciated but it’s so convenient and again the food...
