Ray's Donuts — Restaurant in Georgia

They have the best glazed donuts ever. I am from Houston, TX but moved from Denver, Co to Georgia almost 4 yrs ago. But in Houston, TX they have Shipley Donuts that are so light, airy and fluffy and you can get them hot in the morning.

They opened a Shipley's in Denver, Co a year before I moved here but it wasn't as good as the one in Texas. But there was another donut shop that I bought my donuts from and they were good.

I absolutely love donuts. So I googled the best donuts here in Duluth, Ga where I live and many came up.

I tried Ray's Donuts in Lawrenceville off Scenic Hwy and they were good. But when I went back a few weeks after trying it the first time. The place was closed. So I tried several more times over the period of months and the place was still closed. I was told by someone that there was a death in the family and they didn't know when they would be back open

So I tried Sarah Donuts in which they have practically a 5-star review. I tried 2 different locations. One of them im John's Creek was not so great. But the other off Jimmy Carter Blvd in Norcross was my favorite. And their donuts are made completely different and taste different from the first location I tried. Yet they have the same owner.

So long story short. I live and work in Duluth, Ga and I have a customer who started bringing my boss donuts last year every other week and she would share them with us. I mean these glazed donuts were like heaven in your mouth. They have the absolute best glazed donuts. Including the Apple Filled Bear Claws . They are so addicting too. I love the blueberry cake donut. So I finally asked my boss where were those donuts purchased from. She had no idea.

So finally I asked this customer when he came the next time to meet with my boss, where he had gotten these donuts from. He told me Ray's #2 Donuts in Buford off Gravel Springs Rd.

I told him how they were the best glazed donuts ever. He says that all of his clients have the same reaction and response as me and said the same thing. Asking him where he had gotten the donuts. I couldn't believe it because they taste way better and entirely different than the location that is closer to my house in Lawrenceville off Scenic Hwy. Yet they have the same owner. The recipe can't be the same.

So I drove 25 minutes from my house to Buford to get these donuts and still do. Because they are worth the drive. The attached photos are from 2 different days on Saturday. I should have taken pictures of the several dozen that I purchased during the week for my co workers. Who absolutely love them as well. Agreeing that they were the best donuts...

Ray's Donuts is a real treat and consistently the best donut around. My family has been visiting Rays every week for over 3 years. The donuts are always made fresh that day and the oil doesn't give any turn offs like some other area donut shops. To those other shops out there: It's not rocket science to change the oil in your fryer. Pardon the diversion- Back to Rays and believe me you will return once you taste how amazing they are. I have another little tip make sure you get a dozen donut holes for the drive home. At Ray's they also make great breakfast sandwiches and burritos that will keep you going.

Come on people, stop going to that Big D place that has an identity crisis and can't be identified with donuts except when their sales of said item requires them to mention that they offer it still. We are Dun with your day old hard as a rock donuts.

But seriously go to Rays and see what donuts...

I've been coming here for many many years, mainly when it's garage sale weekends, and although they don't regular carry my favorite donut, and white cake donut with chocolate and peanuts, they always have many other kinds. Blueberry, and the bacon maple are also our regular favorites.

However this morning, after mentioning my favorite donut, the owner quickly went and prepared it for me fresh. I was really happy, haven't had one for quite a white now.

Hubby and I also got the bacon breakfast burrito which was DELICIOUS and filling as usual.

So our 2 hour drive sitting in traffic this morning was just a little more pleasant, thanks to Rays Donut.
