We have been eating at Rodney’s since they opened. In the beginning it was a pretty consistent local restaurant with good BBQ and other fixings…but ever since the 2020 pandemic it just hasn’t been the same. We try every few months to see if it’s back and unfortunately, tonight’s attempt was another disappointment. We arrived at 5:55pm, after we were seated, we both order the Friday night special, bacon wrapped steak with baked potato and side salad. Around 6:30 our server brings out our steaks and baked potato. We ask about our salads and she goes to the back, returning a few minutes later with two salads. We eat our salads and both were good basic salads. After the salads we start on our steak and potato. I ordered my steak medium and it was rare, even though it was cut in half. I’m ok with a rare steak so I eat it anyway. My wife ordered her steak well done and it arrived medium rare, also cut into pieces. She is not ok with medium rare but with how the evening had gone so far, she just requested a box. We paid the bill and she took her steak home and finished cooking it there. We said today that this will be the last attempt. Their food is just too expensive to keep getting mediocre meals and service. I was really hopeful they would get it together as they are very convenient and I prefer to eat at and support local small businesses but that just hasn’t happened.

My family decided to try Rodney’s this past weekend for the first time. They have dill pickle spears, which my husband loves and can rarely find, so that is what really influenced us to try this place out. We are so glad that we did! Food, server, and atmosphere were 5/5! Not only were the fried pickles wonderful, all of our dishes were as well. They had all you can eat catfish the day we dined. It was served hot and crispy with lots of flavor. The fries were hot and fresh as well. I had country fried steak with gravy. It was tender and the gravy made it very wholesome and paired great with mashed potatoes. My children had tenders and Mac and cheese, and they said it was “their favorite Mac and cheese”. Everyone except me drank sweet tea, and they said it was a good balance of sweet. Just on the food alone we would return, but the server was also amazing. We did not get her name, but she was patient with us, talked sweetly to my children, and she got our food out to us quickly and kept our glasses filled. At the end of the meal she brought my children stickers and it really made them feel special. We will definitely return soon!

10/31/23 - visited again for lunch. (see picture). $17 for small scoop of mashed potatoes, small container of coleslaw and scoop of pulled chicken. $1 surcharge for credit card. Not impressed with little flavor. Sorry, won’t be back Old review - When i walked in, 2 different ladies asked if they cpuld help me, I indicated I would like to order to go sandwich. Neither could help me and said someone else would come and take my order. The little lady was running around working so hard, while the other younger girls just stood around and ate and drank . One even has some nasty dirty frog shoes with the holes smoothered in dark black oil. Most not dressed decent at all. None of them were allowed to take my order. Restaurant was vert dirty and bathroom had no paper towels. over 20 minutes for pulled chicken sandwich to go. No napkins in bag. I gave 3 stars cuz the sandwich was very good. Staff and cleanliness, zero stars..except for little lady. She needs stool so she is not killing herself all the time trying to reach on counter. She was really good!!!

So I went to Rodney’s 2 times. The first time I went it was good but I felt it could of been better and figured I would give it a try once more. I will admit the service and atmosphere is very southern hospitality and peaceful. Now the food ughh I really hate to give it the 3 stars and that’s being the best in my own opinion. The place is very local and has many regulars, coming from the outside the food is below what I think they should be making. The brisket I had ordered was barely warm when it came out and that was the same for my wife’s pulled pork which was almost cold. The home made corn bread was bland at best. The corn on the cob I bit into it and it was like each corn kernel was just filled with deep frying oil and the corn had nearly no flavor except for the oil they fried it in. The baked beans I will say is a grand slam and was very delicious and was about the only thing on either my wife or my own place. Back to the brisket, it wasn’t the worst I have had but it was beyond dry and seemed it was recooked but it was so dry it kinda of cracked apart it was very weird. The pulled pork my wife had, it was also very dry and just the flavor wasn’t there for me. I would love to give this place a third try to be far and get some pictures of the food, but something definitely needs to change with some of the food being very cold, other sides being scolding hot, and also the meat being so...

Good food. Love the updates.

updating as of 2/14… we came in for Valentine’s Day.. I’m not sure if it had just been a long day, but our waitress seemed like she would rather be anywhere else than there. We were never rude, only asked for condiments as well as the stuff that was left off of my baked potato. She had another employee/waitress bring that stuff out (which can be typical) but they forgot one of the things we asked for so my husband got up to ask for it. No issues, it was fine. We get to the end of our meal and our waitress starts to walk towards us and I went to hand her our cards to pay. She said something along the lines of giving her a minute and she goes to the table behind us to update them on their food. She then walks past us and continues on to the kitchen. A few minutes later she comes back and then I see her speak to that same other employee and the employee looks at us and then our waitress goes back to the kitchen and the other employee is the one that takes our cards to pay. Our waitress was not in a rush so it felt like for whatever reason she didn’t want to ‘deal’ with us. It was not busy and I’m not sure if our waitress was having a rough day or not but it was not a good experience and made us feel like we had done something wrong when I know we didn’t. The food was good as usual. I will update my review to reflect our next visit if it differs from...

The staff is friendly, courteous, and provide excellent service. I was surprised that it wasn't packed on a Saturday afternoon for the all-you-can-eat catfish. A friend and I had lunch around 2:15 pm today and there was hardly anyone there, guess the crowd will show up later! What's happened to their food? I wanted the baked potato with pulled pork, but they were out of baked potatoes. I ordered the fries with pulled pork and cheese with a large order of onion rings. The onion rings were wonderful, not greasy, battered just right. They were the best thing I ate. My friend had chicken fingers, mac and cheese, and fried potatoes with hush puppies. The chicken fingers were good, mac and cheese was extremely dry, you could play pickle ball with the hush puppies. I got a to-go-box with the catfish, collards, and potato salad and was able to get a baked potato with pulled pork and cheese to go. The catfish was great! Collards were OK, but the potato salad was terrible. The baked potato with pulled pork and cheese was not very good, potato over baked, pulled pork was not very good at all. For this to be a BBQ restaurant, their BBQ is not good at all. I will have to reconsider coming back to Rodney's in the future. Lunch and tip costs $75.00. It would have been a fair price if the food had been good. Can't wait for Big Doug's to open, hopefully we'll have a good...
