My husband and I went to SweetSong for our anniversary dinner last night and we were very disappointed. It started from the moment we walked in, we were told with some attitude by whoever was standing at the hostess stand that we had to wait for the host to seat us. He came back, he was polite, and seated us and then the same woman who had just given us attitude was now our waitress. She didn't welcome us and just asked if we wanted tap water & walked away. The menu was hard to read because it was typewriter print on a cream colored background and very small print, so we had to use our phones to look up the menu. She came back a few times and simply said have you figured out what you want. Not friendly at all. I did ask one question about an item that was labeled as market price. I ordered the Wild Game Bulgogi, and my husband order the steak ($72!). Our waitress never came back to ask if we wanted any other drinks. Our food came and we had to ask the food runner if we could get another drink. Our food was very underwhelming. The Bulgogi dish I ordered was luke warm and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The dish was supposed to have sticky rice, but tasted like soggy Minute Rice that had been made hours earlier. My husband said his food tasted good, but he had to ask four times to three different people for a steak knife! He ate almost half of his steak before someone could bring a steak knife. They said that they were still unpacking their inventory but the restaurant has been open for quite a while and it was not that busy on a Wednesday night. The waitress who had previously been giving us a bit attitude apologized for the extremely long wait for the steak knife and offered to give us free dessert. Yet, we finished eating and waited about 15 minutes and she hadn't come back to ask us about our food or dessert so we looked up the menu on our phone again and ordered dessert. The dessert was honestly the best thing we had all night and it was just a brownie sundae. When we had to ask for our bill our waitress asked if she could give me her name, Belene, and write her positive Google review. That was also super uncalled for considering how bad of an experience overall it was and personally disappointing for us because it was our 23 year wedding anniversary and we chose to try this new restaurant to celebrate. The only redeeming part of the night was that we went up to the rooftop bar at Overstory and had a drink with beautiful weather, views, and great service. So we will not be back to SweetSong, but we will definitely go back...
Read moreLet me tell y'all, I took a little detour to pure bliss at the Westin Gwinnett, and the vibe of this property? Un. Matched! Seriously, you walk in and it's like a warm hug from a cloud wearing a fancy hat. You just know good things are about to happen.
My mission? Speedy sustenance! So, naturally, I zeroed in on the unsung hero of the snack world: French Fries! 🍟 And let me tell you, Sweetsong's fries are doing the Lord's work. Fresh? Check. Crispy? Oh honey, they were practically crackling with deliciousness! Each bite was a perfect little golden crunch of potato perfection. Seriously, forget your troubles, just grab a handful of these bad boys.
Now, you know I'm all about the experience, so a stellar snack deserves an equally dazzling drink. Enter "Just Peachy." 🍹 This isn't your grandma's sweet tea, folks. This is a symphony in a glass! Elderflower whispering sweet nothings, zesty lemon doing a little tango, spiced tea adding a touch of intrigue, all topped off with delightful little bubbles that tickled my nose and made my tastebuds sing! Non-alcoholic drinks are officially my jam if they all taste THIS good. Move over, boring beverages!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! (Insert dramatic pause and a spotlight effect in your mind). My eyes did a little happy dance when they landed on the LEMON CHESS PIE! 🍋🍰🥥 Let's break this down, shall we? A ginger crust that promises a little spicy kick? YES. A classic lemon pie filling that's tart and tangy and everything right in the world? DOUBLE YES. Then they hit you with the lychee gel – a little burst of exotic sweetness that's like a mini-vacation for your mouth. And the pièce de résistance? A delicate, crispy Coconut Tuile perched on top like a tiny, elegant crown.
Y'ALL. This dessert was like they reached into my brain, grabbed all my favorite flavors, and mashed them together in the most glorious way possible. How could a human being with a soul say no to THAT lineup? It was a culinary "meet cute" of epic proportions.
I sadly missed the grand opening festivities last year (life, you know?), but mark my words, Westin Gwinnett! I will be back. And it won't be a fleeting visit. This property has officially stolen a little piece of my heart (and my stomach!). The ambiance is truly something special, and the tastes? Oh. Em. Gee.
If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and make a pit stop at Sweetsong. Your tastebuds will thank you, and your soul will feel just a little bit brighter. ✨

Read moreI wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. For the price they charged and what they give you is ridiculous. The menu isn't offered much added on top of it they ran out of a lot of things on a Saturday night no less. Our server also seemed annoyed by the 3rd questions we asked and didn't know the answer so he had to run back to asked the kitchen multiple times. Most of his answer coming back was " we don't have that today". Appetizer I ordered the crab cake. $18 of just crab cake and salt. It was so salty and dry. No sauce like the picture you see at all, just straight up salt. Took us an hour for the entrée to come out, even more. Our party has around 15 people, split into 2 tables. One of the table had their food and finished it and the second table has no food yet. The server never comes and check up on us during the hour we were waiting for our food. When the food came out it was so disappointing. On our side of the table, we ordered 2 pork chops one was over cooked and one has no color to it. Both have no flavor. The 3 orders of Caesar salad my friends ordered is literally is just Romanian lettuce and chickpeas. They barely gave any dressing for the salad. The rest wasn't happy with their food either. The cocktail was a joke. I ordered "Nuts about you" but with either vodka or tequila. He said sure, but then went and asked the bartender came back, said that they ran out of the ingredient to make that drink. So I ordered Vacation mode that tasted so bad that me and my friend both didn't touch our drinks at all. I honestly sensed hostile feelings from our server. I'm not sure if he was frustrated with us or the fact that the restaurant wasn't prepared but he was neither welcoming nor helpful. Oh and for him to act like that, they automatically charged us 22% gratuity on the tab. We were there for 3 hours. Most of it is waiting around for the servers to come and get our orders and the other half is to wait for the food to come out. 3 hours! We valet parked and was informed that because we were there for 3 hours it was $15 each. Honestly, if you want to spend money on great food and beautiful ambiance there are plenty of restaurants in Duluth to do so. Don't waist your time...
