After months of wanting to go to Just Brunch, I finally had the time to take the hour ride to experience what others have been raving about. Can you tell I was excited? LoL
As I had company in town, I decided to head out to Just Brunch after we left from church. Thanks to Yelp I was able to get on the waitlist as I was on route. Being that the Live Wait was 70-90 minutes and I had a 52 minute ride, this feature was perfect. After adding myself to the list, we headed to the Northside.
Arriving at Just Brunch was smooth. The location sits in the corner of the plaza and was super easy to spot. Upon arriving, parking was kind of scarce as there are multiple popular restaurants in the plaza, however, I found a park at the end and headed inside. As I arrived at the hostess stand, I provided her my name and she advised she would text me when my table was ready.
I decided to wait outside on one of the benches as it was a beautiful day. After about 12 minutes, I got my ‘your table is ready’ text message. I headed back in, confirmed my message and was immediately taken to my table. The hostess was super pleasant and really set the tone for my Just Brunch experience. The ambiance is vibrant, upbeat, and infectious. The positive vibes of the establishment truly put you in a happy to be here kind of mood as you walk to your table. LoL.
Once at the table, Tiffany greeted us with a hugeeeeeeeee smile and advised she would be our waitress. As she went to grab us some water, we took the time to review the menu. The menu seriously has something for everyone. The options are so inviting that they make you want one of everything. Ha.
As Tiffany arrived back with our water, we discussed the menu and were ready to order.
As I had a full day ahead of me, I didn’t want anything too heavy, however, I wanted some varied textures. I decided on the,
Açaí Bowl Double Order of Bacon (well done) Biscuit
After taking our order, Tiffany dropped off my sweet tea and it was time to wait on my food. As you wait, the ambiance takes over again as the music is spot on for a music lover such as myself. Furthermore, the space offers a variety of art and artistic design that cause you to get caught up in admiring the pieces.
As the food started to come out, my excitement hit an all time high.
My bacon was perfectly crispy like I like it. The bacon quality was great as it was thick, meaty, and flavorful.
The biscuit was thick and buttery. Though it was good on its own, the homemade jam takes the experience to a whole new level. I don’t know the flavor of the jam but it put me in the mindset of brambleberry. Not only was the flavor profile of the jam spot on but the texture and spreadability were superb. The amount of sweetness paired like perfection with the butter from the biscuit and salt from the bacon.
The Açaí Bowl was pure perfection. From the visual appeal to the flavor balance. It wasn’t tangy or super sweet. It had the right softness to the açaí layer and the toppings once blended created the perfect brunch balance of sweet and savory. The freshness was top tier. It was apparent that this wasn’t a pre-made bowl.
As I was about to leave, I decided to use the restroom before hitting the road and babeeeeeeeeeee. Even the restroom is cute. LoL. The bathroom has a great color palate, has the design concept of a home bathroom and even offers mouthwash and vegan lotion. Oh baby, Just Brunch is built different than most.
From the service to the good to the price point for value, Just Brunch is an experience that was well worth my long ride. So much so, I’m planning a friend brunch in the coming weeks and all my friends have to meet me here. Ha!!!
To the owners, job well done. To Tiffany, keep smiling and enhancing the customer experience. To the cook, you are loved. To the Jan maker, marry me. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Until next...
Read moreIn doing my best to make a pleasant and entertaining visit for my mother from up north, I wanted to take her out somewhere nice for a tasty brunch. Seldom do I go into Duluth or in the eastern Atlanta metro area, but I saw this place, the pictures, and I was very much interested. The location is easy to find, the parking lot is relatively spacious, and we happened to get in just before the rush hour. Lucky us! We were immediately seated, and after a table switch because our initial table was sticky we were ready for a nice brunch. Our server was very welcoming and patient. He had a calm demeanor and seemed unhurried, willing to give us as much time as necessary as my partner and my mom figured out what they wanted (I already knew what I was getting). He got me and my partner water, got my mom her coffee and gave us ample time to order. When the time came, we placed our orders and waited. In the meantime, I went to the bathroom. Would you believe, they even have small disposable cups for mouth wash. The bathroom was clean and had an aesthetic I can only compare to industrial. The rest of the restaurant had a royal blue appeal, with chandeliers, shades of blue and teal on the decor, and faux wood furniture. It was a nice look that fit well with the brunch feel. It was, however, a bit cramped. The tables seemed decently enough spaced from one another but were placed in a way that felt stuffy and crowded, especially as more people started flowing in. Where we were seated, it felt as though we would be struggling to get out if we needed to hurry out for any reason. Overall, I was fine with the environment. Was not too loud and everyone we interacted with was welcoming. Now, the food: my mother ordered the eggs, bacon, and salad. She loved the bacon, as expected, and is always a sucker for good eggs. She enjoyed the eggs enough to finish but not enough to remember, and she tried a bit of the salad but was too full to finish. I decided to take advantage and eat the cucumbers from the salad. That alone is a plus in my book because seldom do people add to the salad and expect the customers to be happy with just leaves. My partner got herself eggs and potatoes. Just like with my mother's food, the presentation was satisfying. The eggs looked like they were delicious. She seemed to be dissatisfied with the eggs and felt the potatoes were not to her liking. For me, I ordered waffles. Those were filling and I was pleased. The syrup was sweet, and i had just enough to fill me up. Why don't more places make mini waffles? As a side, I ordered some grits, and they were good too, a bit basic but good overall. This place is nice to stop by maybe every once in awhile. It can feel cramped, but maybe that was just where we sat. The food is good, but not exceptional, and the bathroom aesthetic doesn't match the rest of the place (was that a nitpick?). I might go again, but not anytime soon. It is easy to find, but there are no views and this is a place you'll run into on the way to Sugarloaf Mills or if you're staying at the...

I will start by saying I gave the atmosphere a 5 because there's no denying that this is a cute spot with lots of color and nice little al fresco dining area. There was no wait time for brunch on a Friday morning (7/21/23). My family eats at Who's Got Soul in Lawrenceville all the time with no issues so we were super excited to patronize this new brunch spot by the same owner. We were seated on the patio quickly and began to chat while waiting on our food.
The food arrived within a reasonable time. As the server approached the table with both of our plates, I was looking at my plate of French Toast and I saw a long piece of brown hair looped almost in a circle on the very top of the French Toast but it was not laying completely flat so I saw it clearly. However, the server was not aware that I saw the hair. As she placed my husband's plate on the table in front of him, she then did a quick 180 degree turn so that her back was to our table as she pulled the hair from the top of the French Toast with her hand. Then she whipped back around and placed the plate in front of me with a smile. It happened so quickly that I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES. I then politely said, "no, you will have to take that back, I saw what you did". The server then walks aways in shame and began to converse with other workers near the kitchen area. She knew she was caught red-handed so she didn't even say anything as she walked away.
I got up and went to the area where she was located so that I could try to talk to a manager, but the person I was directed to (a middle-aged black woman with a natural puff ponytail) was busy and appeared to be fixing a cash register. When I said "excuse me", the woman had a bad attitude and told me she was on the phone. She then motioned that I could talk to another taller African-American man. I went back to my table and told my husband that we could just leave. Then the man that I was motioned to walked over to our table very nicely and allowed us to explain what happened. He seemed concerned and said that he would make it right. At that point the middle-aged woman with the bad attitude must have finished her phone conversation and then she came over. I told her that she could be excused because we were already speaking to the male in charge and she walked away. 10 seconds later she came back saying we do need to talk to her- I said no we don't and we left.
The issue here is clearly that the server/runner would pull a nasty hair off my plate with her hand and still attempt to give it to me, but the reality is that if she had politely let me know that there was an issue with my food and she would have to get me a new dish, I would have sat and waited for it. Further, this female "manager" made it worse with her unprofessionalism. If you decide to patronize this business, beware of a nasty server/runner with a brownish dreaded bob. I definitely will not...
