The Green Room Restaurant review March 13, 2023 I walk in. At first I had wondered if I had entered a furniture store, by the arrangement of kitchen and dining room tables. Each one big enough for six to eight people. Maybe ten, if my eyes aren’t playing tricks on me, given the clustered arrangements. The majority of the traditional and round tables take up most of the space, save for the few pub tables toward the back. Those are good for a party of four or two, or for a soloist (such as me). Among the tables are chairs of varying styles, and it’s hard to tell the colonial styles from the shakers; and the ladder-backs are just as high as the slat-backs, offering every member of a party the kingly or queenly status. No doubt King Arthur would approve of such gatherings, especially at the round tables. All the chairs are wood, by the way. Except for the stools at the bar, which are metal; and the chairs at the more contemporary setups, those have metal and faux leather (I presume). The tables are close, too. Close enough for the tables to “talk” to one another, or even merge for a night of entertainment. Because, amazingly, there’s a decent size stage offset to the seating floor. Equally impressive in length, décor, and offerings is the bar. The tree with branches sprawling along the wall and shelving, with a mirror-inlay; and the resin polish of the countertop reminds me of the Avalanche hideout from Final Fantasy VII. Suddenly, the place is with hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. A furniture store it is not. Not by a long shot. Not with the bar leading one’s eyes to the whipping flames of a brick oven in the kitchen, at the back. (I came to learn that the brick oven was made in Florence, Italy. “The Italian Oven”, as it were, had returned to Mableton, in a roundabout way. Lol. For anyone that remembers that local restaurant which is now that crab place on East-West connector, next to Longhorns.) However, this isn’t just a hole-in-the-wall either. This is a thousand square-foot kitchen. The kind of kitchen that’s homey, eclectic, and inviting. An everyday kitchen, where the music playing in the background is never really known, but damn it, somebody sure has good taste in real music. And that’s if a cousin or somebody hasn’t decided to entertain by acting out some story around the table, or singing for mom while she did whatever, or performing with some instrument. A space where one can lounge at the kitchen table or peninsula (i.e. the bar) and shoot the breeze while mom and pop (the owners, Linda and Ben in this case) intend on cooking and serving something good to eat. Because a full stomach makes for a satiable soul. It’s that kind of kitchen, and if there were such a “community” kitchen, it would be The Green Room. I am enamored.

I have never been such a fan of a local restaurant. I want to send everyone I know in the area here. The food is great. The service is even better. The owner Linda runs the place the way you wish all restaurants were still run. Knows the frequent patron's names, remembers their regular orders, allergies and preferences. Is absolutely delightful to talk with without being overbearing or encroaching. They have a cabinet with coloring books, kids toys. Do lots in the community to bring people together. Have fun live music. This place is hands down amazing and I wish it all the best! We need more places like this. I have several food allergies and this is the only pizza place I felt safe eating at. The owner makes a special request breadless, cheeseless calzone to accommodate my needs... She also carries things like cauliflower crust, vegan cheese, homemade ice cream...occasionally dairy free as well.

February 4, 2024, open MIC at The Green Room was a nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon. If you missed it, there's another opportunity on Feb 18. We ordered the Greekish Pie pizza (photo), which was a delectable masterpiece! The pizza crust is hand-tossed and carefully baked to perfection in a wood-burning oven. (See photo of husband & wife owners next to the oven) There's no better pizza than what the Green Room offers. The wine was delivered in a 187.5 ML miniature bottle (see photo). We appreciated the musical talent that showed up for Open MIC, including an aspiring teenage girl, who we expect to see on The Voice in the future!! Thank you, Green Room, for a pleasant experience in food and local music. We’ll be back!

My 1st (& last) time here. I was totally unimpressed. I'd heard the pizza was good but very expensive. I will never know.

7:15 Friday night 1/20/23 live music and a fairly busy room. Oddly enough they only had 2 servers and no bar tender at all. The poor waitresses were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

My 2 friends and I had a table right by the speakers and couldn't even talk to each other. We sat there for 10 mins waiting for a server who never came & pretending to enjoy the 110dB music blaring into our heads from speakers about 2 feet away. I told my buds I was going to try to get a beer at the bar. I stood by the bar for 10 mins with no luck. More than once the servers looked right at me but ignored me and walked away.

I finally asked the older server with dark hair and glasses "what's a guy gotta do to get a beer around here"? and her reply was... "there's only 2 servers tonight" and she just walked away.

I knew there was no way my table was going to get any kind of food or drink service so I told my friends I was leaving.

I went to arbys drive thru on the way home. I had eaten and was drinking a beer at home while my 2 friends were still sitting at the super loud table waiting for a server. LOL! I hate going out. It's almost always a disappointment. Businesses just don't understand basic customer service anymore.

Whoever owns this places needs to hire more people for busy Friday nights when there's live music. Move the tables as far away from the speakers as possible. Two waitresses can't possibly cover that entire restaurant AND expect to be the bartenders too!

Also, how does a bar/restaurant NOT HAVE A RESTROOM for customers? I wonder if dollar general appreciates you sending your customers to their store to use their bathroom?

EDIT: To answer the owner, I left the 1 star review in january 2023 but I thought 1 star was a bit harsh so recently I changed it to 2 stars. Evidently, doing that made it appear that I just left the review. Does that make sense?

I hope you're not insinuating that I came in off the street just to use your bathroom? It's lovely that you now have bathrooms. Congratulations! When I left my review, you supposedly did not have a bathroom and I was told to go to the dollar store next door and use theirs. I was at your establishment as a customer with 2 friends, sitting at the only open table which was directly next to a LOUD loudspeaker. We were trying to spend money but couldn't even get a beer at our uncomfortably loud table (or at the bar) because the place was so busy and you only had...

Love this gem! Great pizza and great staff. The owner, Linda, is always so welcoming and nice. There's live music frequently. The beer menu is always enticing. The atmosphere is eclectic, with mismatched tables & chairs - ensuring that no visit is the same as the last! Linda makes ice cream from scratch, there's local artists selling their work, there are board games available for every table while you wait, and there a small bookshelf for the kiddos to take a book from. Go check this place out, and follow them on facebook if you want to keep up with the music schedule!

*update 4/14/22: got the ice cream again tonight and man, it's just so good. The mexican vanilla in so perfect 🍦

**update 10/21/22: still love this place! Our daughter is 2 and a half and loves "miss Linda's pizza place" - aaaaand is recently obsessed with the server named Izzy ☺️

*Update 5/5/26: been a while since I've updated my review! Just popping in to say we still frequent TGR and have enjoyed getting to know Ben and Linda over the last few years. We have two kids who have grown up coming to the green room and look forward to going to "Mrs...
