I've been here 5 times now and I'm not too impressed. Let's start with the food. If you want a pretty looking plate of food that's been piled onto a plate or in a skillet to post on your instagram, this place is for you. Other that that I would not recommend going here. Every dish I've had has been very plain tasting and lacks the depth I want in a meal. The hashes are comparable to garbage fries (fries with a bunch of random stuff thrown on top of them) with the base being their hashbrown potatoes. I'm a huge potato lover and I'm sorely disappointed that the 3 times I've gotten a hash the potatoes are undercooked, hard, and super tiny. It almost seems like they're using bagged hashbrowns instead of hand chopping them everyday. All the other ingredients in the meal just seem like someone decided that these things are good on their own so let's throw them together. Through this you get bites of food that taste grey, as in everything blends together and you never really taste an individual flavor and it just sort of turns into a massive mush of food in your mouth. On the other hand, the last meal I got was their chilaquiles with chicken tinga. This is almost the opposite case of the hashes. The chilaquiles with chicken tinga felt like it almost created a paradox in my mouth. The verde salsa they used was sour, almost making me pucker, the chicken tinga was slightly sweet with some savoriness, and the 2 fought it out in my mouth with each flavor completely contradicting the other and I couldn't finish the meal. The 5th dish I had was their frittata. Not much to say on the frittata. It was absolutely nothing special with nothing at all standing out. You could easily make the same frittata at home for 1/20th the price it costs at this place. This restaurant has something against spices I swear. The last food item I've got to review is their "Billionaire Bacon". Admittedly, it was a good, single, thick cut, strip of bacon with gold flakes on it so they can charge you $8 for it. I guess if every meal wasn't running ~$25 all of this wouldn't be a big deal, but they do.
Service has always been good. Wait staff does their job and the food comes out pretty quick. But I usually go at 7 AM when I get out of work so that may vary.
The restaurant itself is not my style at all. It seems their core theme is having word vomit all over the walls with an ugly gold hanging bead like curtain spanning an entire wall. They've also had extremely loud music blasting over the speakers each time I go in. The first time I went was with a group of friends and we had to practically yell to hear each other at our small 4 person table.
Overall, their food lacks soul or any real flavor for a pretty steep price tag. I would recommend going to other, more authentic places that are within the same area of this place.
PS. This doesn't affect their score but they only carry...
Read moreLoud music at a breakfast joint? We went once about 6 months ago and had a GREAT experience in here and once we came back to the area, were excited to go try it again. Not sure what has changed, but something is obviously different and they aren't catering to the same crowd.
First off, if you value a conversation with whomever you're taking to breakfast or brunch... Go somewhere else. I've never heard of a place having a Live DJ at breakfast, but it was obviously someone's great (not so great) idea. I'd be surprised if other people aren't complaining about this. We witnessed one table with two 50+ adults walk out before being served, because they couldn't hear each other. Another probably 40yr old couple walk in, look at the menu and ask about the music... they left as well. You guys are losing business and for what? Nobody seemed to be enjoying the blaring bass and music. It's just odd.
Next, we ordered our coffees and drinks. The coffee came out promptly in a thermos and was poured for us. It smelled stale, like it was brewed hours ago (you know the smell... it's late afternoon and you're grabbing your morning thermos to get an afternoon pick-me-up... yeah, that kind of stale). Sure enough, on first sip it was barely luke-warm. Ugh! Did I mention that you're paying an absolute premium for this lackluster luke-warm coffee by the way? We mentioned to our server, she simply said... "That's literally as hot as we can brew it. I'm not sure what you want me to do." First off... I've never seen a coffee maker brew at roughly 90 degrees. Secondly, at least offer to take the coffee away and not charge us for something that's disgusting to drink. Nope... just walked away.
Looking over the prices on the menu, this place is definitely (or at least considers themselves to be) high-end. After watching two of the tables right next to us have issues with their food within minutes of each-other... We decided to just go elsewhere. I'd rather spend a little less for higher quality food at a place where we can actually sit and carry a conversation without screaming at each other anyways.
As an Entrepreneur and Business Consultant that specializes in fixing break-down businesses and developing startups... You guys appear to be missing the mark. I'd rethink your target market and realize that most of these customers walking out that door will never be back. My family and I, as well as the customers we talked to that were heading towards their cars are those...
Read moreHash Kitchen is a new addition to the Gilbert- Cooley Ranch area. They are known for their over the top Brunch with one-of-a-kind cocktail options and cuisine. My husband and I visited on a Monday afternoon and were happy to be seated without a wait. This location is quite small so be prepared to wait on the weekends- it can get quite crowded. Hillary was our server- she was sweet and attentive! Was surprised to see a DJ present even on a weekday. The music is loud and can get a bit annoying if you are trying to have a conversation but at least good songs were playing. We ordered a few drinks- the Brunchata Martini and the Salted Caramel are VERY sweet! They could qualify as a dessert themselves so be warned! The Mimosa flight was fun- strawberry and blueberry flavors were our favorite. We also tried the Billionaireâs Bacon- the yuzu glaze is delicious and certainly makes the dish. The meat is a thick cut- it does take some chewing. I typically prefer crispy bacon- so I was not the biggest fan but it was still good and certainly unique! Hubby got the carnitas hash- it was good but a bit greasy, especially with the fried onions- there are quite a handful on top! The pork has a good flavor but it is strong, itâs a lot for a âbreakfast!â We took home more than half of it. I tried the famous ricotta scrambler and added mushroom and spinach. It was ok! Nothing too special⌠kind of something I feel like I make at home. Would not reorder but it was easy to eat without overpowering flavors (opposite of my husbandâs). I do wish we wouldâve tried their pancakes or waffles! May have to return just for this. Overall, I think this is a great place to try for the experience but not sure Iâd consider this a âgo-toâ spot for breakfast/lunch personally. Could definitely see it being popular among the âtrendyâ crowd! Food: 4/5 stars Service: 5/5 stars Atmosphere: 3/5 stars...
