We were looking forward to our visit but left very disappointed. First the restaurant is very loud, the high ceilings and open windows did not create a good environment for talking. The sun also came right through the windows and for 30 -45 minutes as it set it was blinding. They need window coverings. But we could have overlooked all of this it it weren't for the terrible service we received. Our server had a lot of tables all over the restaurant so we thought we might be waiting for a bit. We orders our drinks earlier then we needed and still ended up waiting. The food is expensive. We just got back from La Jolla and San Diego and paid similar prices for seafood in ocean front 5 star restaurants and would not have expected these prices in a strip mall in Gilbert. But even then we would have been happy with the prices if the food was good and the service was at least average. the shrimp cocktail was good, we enjoyed it. ($19) My husband asked for his salad with our cocktail but it didn't come until dinner and then with no dressing. We were excited to see shrimp pozole soup. (20$) But the huge bowl was mainly broth and very little shrimp and hominy. My husband left hungry. My pesto salmon was good, but very lacking in pesto. (42$)I attached a picture of their menu on the right and what I received on the left. Then we never got our drink order that we placed during appetizers. We saw our server twice. He never checked on us, refilled out water, or took our dirty plates. When he finally came by after our dinner we asked to cancel our drinks which still had not arrived. (We saw them at the bar and asked the bartender if we could take them, we were told we had to wait for out server.) He pulled out his card reader, deleted them, put the card reader on the table and walked off. He said nothing about the drinks, didn't ask us if we wanted dessert (which we did) and didn't clear off the table. He just left and never returned. We were a bit amazed. We ended up leaving and walking over to Crust restaurant for after dinner drinks and...
Read moreWe discovered this hidden gem in the Town of Gilbert in mid-to-late 2024 while strolling through the Verde Mall area—conveniently close to home. What a find!
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by warm, smiling staff. Back then, Elmer was running the bar at Blu Seafood Restaurant & Bar, and though he’s now next door at their sister spot, Origen, the high-quality service continues.
Over the past six months, we’ve had the absolute pleasure of being served by our bartender, Sabree. She’s vibrant, attentive, and always knows how to tailor a drink to your mood. Her Hibiscus Sunrise is a must-try—and don’t even get me started on her mojitos. Amazing.
We’ve worked our way through much of the menu, and it’s been a flavorful journey. Personal favorites include the fresh and flavorful Tuna Tartare (appetizer), the rich and comforting Fish Tortilla Soup, and entrées like the Cod al Limón, Chilean Seabass, and Citrus Mahi Mahi—all consistently delicious.
If you come hungry, try “The President” shrimp tacos—hearty and packed with flavor. My son, who has quite the appetite, swears by the Surf and Turf Burrito (it’s huge). And don’t skip the Lobster Risotto, a family favorite. Most recently, we tried the Mango Blu Ceviche—smoky, spicy, and absolutely unforgettable. If you’re into bold flavors, this one’s a standout.
Blu offers more than just great food and drinks—it’s a relaxing, modern, yet zen space that’s perfect for date nights, family dinners, or a solo cocktail at the bar.
If you’re in Gilbert, do yourself a favor and stop by Blu. Treat yourself—and be kind to our friends there. They make every visit...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time. We wanted to try something new and BLU SEAFOOD was the winner. Our first impression when we walked in was that the aesthetic was nice, low lit and warm, but the music was much too loud. If they cut the volume by 50% I feel it would be much better for the atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely polite and attentive. When she asked if we wanted an appetizer we chose the card cakes but they were all out. I do think this is an issue because it wasn't very busy and they have been open for a few months so I feel this is a preparation issue more then anything but not the end of the world. The waitress made a recommendation to me between two dishes and she knocked it outta the park, she even chose the less expensive dish. I got the octopus risotto and my wife chose the Chilean sea bass. My risotto was phenomenal! The marinade was flavorful but not overpowering and paired great with the creamy risotto. The octopus had some chew but wasn't rubbery. The dish wasn't complicated but had a lot going for it. My wife's sea bass was cooked well and the flavors were mild but I believe that was the intent of the dish, focusing on the fish. Either way, it's exactly what she wanted. Based off of our experience and the dishes we had I would recommend this place. It isn't cheap but it isn't egregiously overpriced either. I...
