I typically come to Rohan’s for their $10 dosa special, however on this unfortunate day I was greeted by a rude, flippant, and out-of-touch business owner Rohan himself who decided to profile me and begin discussing with his staff in plain sight of me, the only individual in the establishment at the time, that student discounts are for 18-20 year olds not 30-40 year olds with jobs. Mind you as a full-time graduate student in my particular focus of study there is no time to work a full-time job contrary to what this business owner thinks. In his mind, student discounts are based on my future salary, not my current status as a full-time student. Do not expect student discounts to be honored if you do not fit his stereotypical idea of an undergraduate student & in fact he will be requiring age checks via I.D. going forward according to him.
Fortunately for future customers it does not seem likely that one will come across this small-minded man in future visits as this was my first and last encounter with him in the past year that I’ve been a customer. If only the owner were as focused on the customers that come into his restaurant and not the dollars they spend, this situation may have been avoided with a simple conversation about the abrupt change in policy with me. Instead, passive-aggressive announcing of the change-in-policy followed by blatantly rude and flippant remarks upon attempting to pay my bill. It is truly unfortunate, as the food is excellent, and the chef and staff are wonderful. However, I can not and will not in good conscience recommend this restaurant any further with such an unprofessional and rude...
Read moreIf you KNOW that your website says everything is Gluten Free and that its a MISTAKE then you should be doing everything in your power to change that. We ordered from here because I have a wheat allergy. The website says nice and big: EVERYTHING GLUTEN FREE however the naan on the website states that it uses wheat flour. So when we talked to the person at the counter for clarification they said "yeah the website is wrong."
To Rohan: I highly highly encourage you to change the wording on your website so that it's accurate otherwise you could be poisoning your celiac customers and may face a law suit for false advertising.
Aside from that, the food itself? Meh. There are better Indian food establishments in South jersey. This isn't one of them. We ordered for 4 adults and nothing was labeled so we couldn't discern the plain roti from the buttered naan which was really important because one of the adults we ordered for has a dairy allergy....
Read moreDecided to visit for a quiet casual dinner. Indian food is amongst my favorite, and this place hits the mark. The place is clean and has some relaxing music and just overall vibe.
Had a good few appetizers - the pakora was great, the dahi puris were good but felt a tad let down. Dinner was saag paneer and paneer masala (yeah, there’s a trend here for me). Both were phenomenal. Went with mild as every place is different, and the mild had a good amount of spice without being overbearing. Had some garlic naan that went with it. All great! Gulped down some mango lassi that was very tasty.
The young woman tending the place was very nice and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Parking was easy but you do pay - not sure how it looks during lunch or a busier day/night.
I recommend it! Especially for the area. I enjoy the quality and variety, and the staff were nice. I...
