We used to frequent kiku before the pandemic and before the partial remodel. I think they may have the owners because there are different people working there. The last two times we dined there we were very disappointed. First, sushi rice is supposed to be seasoned with vinegar and mirin. The first few pieces we had it were just cooked rice balls that was too soggy. Then the few after that were hit and miss, some almost had enough seasoning, others barely, The seasoning had not been properly mixed through., the tuna had a sour taste which means it was starting to go bad. The quality wasn't sushi grade. The salmon instead of tasting sweet was slightly fishy meaning it was old. Third, the lobster roll and the scallop roll were exactly the same. The same imitation crab instead of inexpensive canned crab that they used to use. Fourth, the tuna rolls and rolls in general are now half a narrow roll cut into four pieces. Along with tasteless rice are not worth it. Fifth, when we ordered from service person they didn't seem to forget and we had to remind them two or three times to get what we wanted. We wanted fresh because the ones on the belt we're gone or just didn't look very appetizing. But they will just grab one off the belt and hand it to us. Sixth, grilled eel was very narrow and a bit chewy. The teriyaki basting sauce varied in taste and thickness. The first thin and too sweet. The next one was gloppy and too much hoisin. The third one the right consistency but the flavor was completely off.
We've been going to kiku when it was only $2.50 a plate. They're now $3.20 a plate but the quality has gone way down. Their remodel looks very cheap. Just a repaint and has really darkened the room removing from the lively feeling it once had.
I'm surprised that so many people are still eating there because of the bad service and poor quality of the food at the price they are charging. They are not the only revolving sushi bar in the metro area. And we'd rather drive to the competitor s though it's slightly more expensive, but the quality is far superior with a much better decor...

Read moreThis is such a disappointing review to write as we enjoyed coming here many times before. So know you could have a good time (and i hope you do!) Or you could be treated like we were:
We arrived and signed in and took note of the 5 parties on the list before us. At 15 min in they had all been seated and a table opened up (yay!) - then the workers seated another group there who had arrived after us. My husband said they must have had someone else on the list already, no worries. So we sat and continued waiting. Past 30 minutes another table opened and I was so relieved because we were getting super hungry. Right at that moment another family walked in - and they got promptly seated at the table!
So I went over to the list to let the worker know that he missed us, here was our name and party size. He told me no, we weren't allowed to sit at those tables - he'd been skipping us on purpose the entire time!! And I was so confused because we have sat at those tables everytime we've come to this restaurant. I told him I'd been sitting there for over 30 minutes with an infant, why wasn't I allowed to sit and eat at a table? He didn't have a response and wouldn't get a manager for me to talk to when I asked. Then he offered I could sit at the bar... with my infant.
So you could come here and have a good time, or you could come here and be treated like trash and leave confused,...
